preview better than full game?

Body Blows

Azy77 - 2005-08-06
I remember playing a demo of this from a magazine coverdisk and thought it was quite good. It was fast an furious. My friend bought the full game so I went to his house, played it and couldn't stop laughing. He was deceived, as the full version was nothing like the demo. The full version was about 5 times slower and the response was WELL sluggish. I had bought Mortal Kombat for the Amiga and my friend was envious as MK for the Amiga was infinitely better than Body Blows. I gave this a 4.

Battle Squadron - more/different sound fx
Alien Breed 3D - different, better enemies(?)

any more?

Shadow of the Beast preview was better than the full game because you couldn't play it to realise how crap the gameplay was

Much better as a rolling demo

Wing Commander, the preview that was released on 1 disk (just showing the intro sequence) looked much better than the final game (which was released years later). No ugly dithering etc.

The demo of Banshee had some great music that was removed from the full game.

You can try to ask Azy77 from lemonamiga, maybe it was just NTSC version.

Ruff n Tumble, preview was basically one level from later full game, but had better sound effects, especially for restore point devices.

I have just played that demo Ruff n Tumble level. It's actually original level based first world, but with few sprites from later levels rocket ladder and energy barrier bride. Level is big and well balanced so I have some fun

Well, I remember shoots in magazine showing nice HUD. Than I play demo, sure it has different level and even different monsters that look more like green aliens that's fit better that game. Still I like final version level design more.
Anyway - is there option to play Alien Breed 3d with no hud or with better resolution? I have got feeling that game show graphic in 2x2 pixel mode while gloom allow for full screen and 1x1 pixels.

Was the actual track you raced round featured in the game, too? I remember enjoying the demo much more than the final game.

Funny, the demo of xj220 I had featured only music, no sound at all.

It is the fate of the whole Jaguar XJ220 project. The original prototype was also absolutelly differerent to a final production car, which dissapointed many.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jaguar_XJ220

The demo by Core features engine sound together with a music, which was changed in final game (music OR sound). Also the engine sound itself is different (I prefer the later deeper sound before previewed). Even the main sprite was slightly changed. Awesome game, anyway.

nope there is no option to play this game in 1x1, only the small enter key to play in fullscreen, this removes hud
