Mr Chucky, can I ping you a donation for your cause?

I ordered some boards from the latest gerbers but don't want the charity to miss out

A) Go to Amibay and follow the instructions (http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php...miga-1200-PCBs)
B) Download the gerbers and get a board house to manufacture them

You may as well go option A) then as it’ll be the same process.

Nice!

Just need to find some replacements for a couple of things now - one of my donor boards had a broken Alice chip which I need source now. (ebay prices are silly - £36 for a single chip??)

Oh, no problem to change:

Don't develop and/or buy new boards.

Er, okay?

Don't see how that's of any relevance here - I have a board I'm going to transplant parts from but it has a dead Alice chip and there's a lack of spares on the market.

Oh btw Chucky, love the somewhat secret message on the board

YES! but usually it is actually NOT the chipset.

people have a scary idea of changing chipset when things like right mousebutton does not work (usually a groundconnection failing) etc.

and I have now moved components from hmm 4-5 dead boards to R1200 all working. even one board that we believed the alice was bad on due to sprite-bugs..

My talking. Too often the big chips are exchanged blindly and all too often it's just the little things that drive us crazy.

However, I can imagine that a lot of things go wrong during the transfer. And especially when it comes to the sooo popular hot air.

So please repair or let repair the defective boards first.
At www.a1k.org there are enough examples which have done something wonderful even from seemingly impossible conditions: a running system !

Edit:
Conservation and increasing is the goal, not destruction.

Well noone forces you to move components.. ofcourse you can repair the original machine. but when caps have leaked and traces are bad etc. you know efter recappers who twist off caps etc..

but I am thinking instead of putting DAYS of analyzing. I will move components from my pile of dead A1200 to reAmiga PCBs.. must find a place who can do all this damn birdseed for me
