It's simply not that useful to present release notes with lots of entries like "increased WA_INNERWIDTH for new gadget", because users will waste lots of time sifting out the information they're really interested in.

Thomas is actually providing user readable changelog digests on two forums, one can be found here:

Such information is actually quite useful, especially for those who do not have any intention in buying or developing on OS 3.1.4, but who develop software that end up being used with OS 3.1.4.

I don't see the point in "belittling" users and other developers by not providing all the gory details.

Do you want people to also learn, or just buy?

Djiises, what's your problem? I'm not presenting a damn conspiracy theory, I'm just asking a simple question. I have no idea what notes developers take during development, but I do know that when I'm presented with an expensive update I expect to be presented with a comprehensive changelog.

H&P etc. released full release notes, it's the usual thing to do. If they are boring, people don't have to read them of course ;-)

The old one is well understood and documented among users and developers after 25 years of experience, and sources are available. This new one just got out with myriads of unknown changes all over the place, lacks documentation, rights are disputed and sources are yet not available.

Problem: it currently covers exec.library, expansion.library, battclock.resource and utility.library ONLY. Don't get me wrong, I really like this OS update (even though I didn't fully integrate it with my custom installation yet - it seems stable so far and allowed me to get rid of several patches developed independently and not tested together) - but the documentation is... well, not the best one.

I feel bad I asked if there were any release notes now, I really didn't want it to turn into a bun fight.

For me, I am happy enough with that there are people with so much passion that they are doing all this upgrade work seemingly for no real money, and providing updates to AmigaOS after all this time after the 3.1 release.

So let's all be nice, otherwise those who have invested so much of their time may think twice if they get called names over very small matters.

We are very fortunate that there is finally some movement on updating the 3.x line. Yay

TagLiFE causes crashes? With 3.1 or 3.1.4?

I can't believe it and I also have doubt that any taglist related optimization like in TagLiFE is done in the new utility.library. But it's up to the user to decide whether he needs it or not, because you won't notice a visible speed boost.

Nothing, no Alerts here, not with 3.1.4 nor with 3.9+3.1.4. Check your startup-sequence.
