My current monitor is a BenQ GL2760H, is 1080p, HDMI with audio out, 27" and supports 50Hz, it is brilliant for WinUAE use. It's like being sat in front of my A500 and TV back in the old days, once again!

My monitor is a DELL P2418D. It is a 2.5K (2560x1440) monitor. In that resolution it only supports 60 Hz but in the FHD resolution (1920x1080) it does support 50 Hz. Will it affect something that the monitor is not in its native resolution?

I made a comparison today.
WinUAE: stock A500 configuration with this mod: - fullscreen native resolution (1920x1080) with 50Hz refresh - lagless vsynch beamraced (without vsynch it gives me a tearing line, not in the same position of the screen) - manual 2x scale factor and automatic scale correction - played ATR with ADFs Real A1200 with HD and accelerator card (68030 + 16mb fast ram) - played ATR with WHDload pack Both connected to the same monitor TV (crappy Samsung), HDMI pc and SCART Amiga Well besides the different image quality (more crisp and saturated on WinUAE) I didn't noticed differences in terms of scrolling. Fluid gaming (cars movement), slightly jammings for the background. I suppose the cheap monitor it's responsible for a not (1084) perfect scrolling. I did a video too but I have a (also) crappy phone so it's useless to upload anything. Later I re-connected the A1200 with his Commodore 1084DS, and checked the game again. Needless to say that it's the best solution for gaming purposes... but a good monitor maybe with freesynch and a aimed configuration with good setup for filters should be a very close solution. |

Is there an effective application to create custom resolutions?

You should be able to create them in your graphics card's own control panel, where you would change settings like resolution, etc. For me, it's Nvidia Control Panel when right-clicking on the desktop in Windows 10.

I have managed to add 50 and 70 Hz with Custom Resolution Utility. If I put the monitor at native frequency of 50 Hz, everything is displayed at 50 Hz (Windows, WinUAE, ...) and it works. But if I set the native frequency to 60Hz and from the WinUAE drop-down menu I select 50Hz, it plays the content at 60Hz (native monitor frequency). Any advice?
