Star wars: Escape from mos eisley

Hey Amigans!

I invite you to take a look at my first game on Amiga. This specific genre wasn't my dream, I just wanted to learn AMOS (when I started to write the game I knew AMOS only by name). I started this game from scratch May 3rd (a bit more than month ago). I do not plan to develop it. It was just the first step. I plan to come back with something "real". Meantime have fun.

I don't want to copy and paste everywhere so I'll point to the original post on http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=69361

Working download link: SW_Escape.lha

Note: IT IS A FAN MADE SHORT GAME. NO MORE NO LESS. NON PROFIT. ENJOY

Best regards,
Umpal

Yeah, can I suggest something before you run into trouble? Change the name to something else or something, avoid using a trademark like this without permission. I'd go as far as modify things so the likeness of any character or anything inside the game is suggested but not direct.

We don't want to see another Smurf-like problem

Thanks for advice guys but don't worry. I sleep like a baby and Disney won't change it (unless the new episode sucks ).

I think the whloe Smurf affair was a bit of a one off - it happens sometimes, apparently Starship Command (old BBC game) has caused problems but there are lots of examples that are out thre and haven't been sued!

And I thnk you are right - t's counter productive to crack down on non-profit fan made games. And look at all the fan stuff on youtube...

You can of couse contact the rights holder and sometimes you get ehir blessing...(worked for me with Dean Swain and Target Renegade - just need to finish the game now!!!)

I started a Starship Command remake on PC a few years ago but other remakers warned me off as this was apparently one of the few games that caused problems with the original programmers/owners. So left it alone...but you're right, great game:

Starship Command looks a bit like the Amiga game Awesome.

Just use some imagination and a lot of trouble can be avoided. There is no reason to infringe on anyone's copyright to make a game, they do have the right to crack down on it whether you think they're being mean or not.

Good work, do you also have an .adf format of the game? Or is there a way to convert the .lha to .adf? Noob question but I am a plain Amiga gamer ;(

Unfortunately it is not possible because the game needs a hard drive to work (it doesn't fit on a single diskette. Of course I could make such a version but I don't want to spend a second more on this game. My goal has been achieved and now I'm working on my 100% own kick-butt game ).

What if you set a new goal now to make an .adf version of the game? Double pleasure! :]
