recently i have started Ambermoon again due to random question from my friend.
and could play consistently to see end sequence at last.

it was endless loop of on-off cycle for long time.
thanks all contributors for your efforts.

and especially, Meynaf.
without your patch, i could get confused and give up again.

with 1.07 EN + Meynaf's patch, my play through was really smooth.

just thought I asked it here. is it correct this game is not on whdload? it wasn't in the whdload list I got from 2017 I think. I want to play this on my whdload on my amiga cd32.

...and you can grab the slave / install from the EAB File Server under Commodore_Amiga/Retroplay/Commodore_Amiga_-_WHDLoad_-_Games/A

I'm not as active as I once was but I will find the time this month to update the Webshrine Ambermoon page.

I'll also fix the German version which says 1.05 but (so I've been told) is actually 1.01

I'll update the 1.07 bug list (thanks to Meynaf, Hexxae, ST-TH, MetalliC and several others the exact details of the bugs are known, which files they were in, possibly diff files).

I'll provide links to all the patches I know of.

Upload a fully detailed English Walk through (which I've had in my inbox for 19 years)

There is a newer slave on the WHDLOAD site so do we need to reinstall it again?! Or can we just copy the files over into the existing game directory?

Is it worth to kill the Master Thief just for the Silver Hand (whatever that is) and loose the ability to level up critical hit?

edit: it's for the Baron, so it seems pointless and fucking hard.

15. musics miss notes on accelerated machines (at least on 030), prob'ly bad dma wait

To alexh : you say that there are lots of checksums in the data files but I have never actually seen one. Are they in the compressed data ? Decrunch routines I've seen compute no checksum...

I managed to fix 1, 3, 9, 10, 12 and 14 already. I don't think that 4 can be fixed as the current window dictates the palette and the camp has a different one than the current map. Moreover each map has a different palette but the camp can only have one. So this can't be resolved I guess.

7 could be fixed by either reducing the height of Valdyn and the other races (Nelvin is even taller btw) or by increasing the wall height of the Luminor's Tower maps. The latter is quite easy as you only have to change the wall height (first word) of the associated labdata which is used for all those maps. But of course it will change the map appearance slightly.

@Pyrdacor Congratulations fixing bug (9). I didn't think you'd be able to do it so quickly (a few hours). And with such a small change. Nicely done. Thank you for continuing to provide Amiga executable bugfixes like this (plus 3 & 10 and cursed items not listed here) which do not affect your remake Ambermoon.net

Hey there, I'm experiencing an "incomplete read" error related to the "amberfiles/party_char.amb" (using WHD on the A500mini, but I think it doesn't matter - in other cases I do use the adf files).

Is it a common issue for the WHD? Is there anything that can be done to fix this out?

I've never used the WHDload version as it is pointless. Ambermoon already supported 040+ CPU and HDD loading.

Something to ask in the WHDload section

Hi,

Ran into same problem. It seems current Ambermoon slave in version 2.0 doesn't support custom SavePath WHDLoad option. Disable that option and it should load correctly.

I'm having serious problems with Ambermoon on my A4000D 060 classic setup.
The game freezes when entering battle sequence; especially after a save game
has been created.
I'm also unable to get the game's own installer to work.
The problem exists with Ambermoon Advanced, too.
I thought the problems might be 060 and/or filesystem related !?
I have recently updated my system with a fresh PFS (aio version) filesystem,
I think most other games and other software installed, work just fine.
When running the WHDload installed Ambermoon, the game suffers from severe slowdown of the 3D sections; compared to normal hd installed game.
There's some patches available for 040+ machines on Aminet, but they seem
to be for original german version only..!?
I really wish I could get Ambermoon (and Advanced) to work properly.

They are not needed anymore. One is the exe from the German v1.05 from Thalion. The other is FAKE and is actually the same German v1.05 from Thalion in the other one.

I thought v1.17 was the latest !? I'm currently using / testing that version.
However, is there a slight chance that I could get some older version to (partly) work !?!
(there was some kind of modification of the AM_XX (?) files on version 1.14 ...??! )

doesn't detect (floppy) disk changes correctly.

Well, I can't update the v1.17 English yet, could I ?!
I'm currently just beginning the game, so my save game state is not so important -yet- (on grandpa's cellar ).
I kind of completed the game (English v1.07) years ago; but I think I missed a lot of game content then; there were some areas that didn't work completely; for example.
The English version also had some severe bugs then; but generally it did run on my old
040 system those days.
I remember You and some others helping me to progress in Ambermoon then; thanks once again !

and declared my interest to help with the project(-s)
Ambermoon & Ambermoon Advanced!
I thought I maybe could help a little bit with play testing, at least.
I also have plenty of ideas for updating / improving the game.
Btw, I also think the remake of Amberstar is a great idea!

However, I'm not a programmer; although I'm very interested in
programming, too; and have some basic knowledge.

Pyrcador himself suggested me to maybe start a thread regarding
Ambermoon (Advanced) English version, here on the EAB.
I gave him some info about my problems with the game.

That has always worked fine for me. The installer is a standard AmigaOS 2.x+ install script. There is a slim chance the Ambermoon.net ADF creation script got broken but seems unlikely. I'll try v1.17 tomorrow.

If you have issues. Install using v1.07 and then overwrite the installation with the non ADF patched files from Github

Sure. I don't tend to use the installer much but overwrite our existing HDD install when files are patched.

I finished v1.07 using 040 many times. There were one or two bugs which caused the game to crash but not many and mostly isolated. You could finish just by avoiding those locations. Almost all bugs are now fixed.

The big changes in V1.14 (going to one exe for all languages and all Amigas from 4. Introducing new language files) has brought a few new bugs, mainly with the installer. But they will get fixed

Probably. I don't use WHDLoad slave but Hexxae says he gets better 060 stability. No idea how

I managed to do a proper hd install of Ambermoon;
by using the app UnitMount (v1.17 English ADFs).
The game starts fine (no save game exist !),
but crashes immediately Just before (first) battle
sequence is about to begin (black screen, reset).



PS. unfortunately, I can't create a GitHub account.
Maybe my system isn't supported (x86 32-bit old PC with LUbuntu installed;
Firefox 66.0.3 as browser) ?!
Sure, I can browse GitHub pages & repositories etc.
The SignUp part doesn't work.
So I'm afraid I'm unable to report any bugs there.
