Been ages since I last posted... New job and prepping the band for its first album taking up all my time - along with a young family, of course!!

I got the physical game last week and just got the digital version today. Looking forward to the weekend when I (hopefully) will get the blooming chance to play it!!

Well done on getting it all put together and published, Viddi. A great achievement, which should act as inspiration to any coders out there

Hi Viddi. Ive been playing the game a bit now so heres my brief opinion.

Cons: Backbone makes it a bit jerky as mentioned and i find shooting the smaller enemies with the bow a bit frustrating. The ability to fire lower would of been nice. Plus that invisible platform level annoys me.

Pros: Love the pixel art, character designs and animations. The presentation is great. It plays very well on my 030 and I absolutely love the soundtrack. So much so that I made an mp3 version and copied it to my ipod

in the end ill give it a solid 7/10. Ill be keeping an eye out for your future projects.

You have to practice a bit...but e.g. jumping and shooting will help a lot.
The enemies will change their movement...

thanks... ill give that a try.

btw... do u think a decent scrolling or one on one beatem up is possible on the Amiga? We have plenty of great racers and platformers etc but the beatem up genre is sadly lacking.

Fightin spirit is very good and shadow fighter is ok but i was thinking something with the playability of super street fighter 2 but with good graphics.

do you think homebrew game creators stay away from this genre as its difficult to do?

thought id ask your opinion

cheers mate.

What the diamonds are good for if there is not a scoring system and they do not add even a stamina?

Not sure! I´m FAR AWAY from being an expert. Maybe it´s too complicated to handle all the background gfx (parallax layers and stuff), sound and all the different moves...plus the sprites need a decent size.

I guess 4 MB Fast could help a lot...but it needs to be a proper assembler coded game.

They are for your Experience meter...but don´t have an effect...so it´s basically a scoring method.

I’m really not sure what amiga gamers want from beat em ups, final fight was a fantastic conversion.

I’d code a beat em up myself but i think it would be tough to top final
Fight as a conversion.

Please tell me youre joking? Final Fight... a good conversion. Tough to top it? No offence but I think you should ask the majority of the Amiga community what they think about that half baked turd of a game.

As for what amiga gamers want from a beatem up... some gameplay would be nice (bad enemy ai makes them run around like headless chickens). Maybe some music and more than 2 sound effects. no disk swaping right in the middle of a fight. some moves!

That US gold port friggin near traumatised me it was so bad.

I’m not joking.

Granted, its not brilliant but it’s not that poor either for a stock Amiga.

if you mean in terms of gfx, it's ok, but in terms of gameplay, it's pretty terrible....

I had a feeling u were ... normally it would be obvious to anyone how bad these conversions are but unbelievably Ive meet a few people on YT who say they like Final Fight and SF2 beacuse they never played the arcade versions.

The you get the complete wack jobs who actually prefer the Amiga ports the the originals?!? Bizarre.

Anyways... slightly off topic.

Great Game, Viddi... I hope more people pick up a copy.

Hiya!

The game does not work using the kickstart ROM supplied with AmigaOS 3.1.4 for A1200?

I cannot get the game to work on my A1200 or in WinUAE, the player character doesn't show:

It works fine when I use the normal 3.1 ROM.

Thanks
Magne

I can confirm that HOG works with Amiga OS 3.1.4 & A1200 ROMs.

I tested it again and found that it works (and it doesn't..)

The game works fine using 3.1 ROMs.

With 3.1.4 ROMs, if I try to start the game using the "HeroesofGorluth" executable (tried both 020 and 030) it doesn't work. The only way I get it to work with 3.1.4 ROMs is to start the game using the "launcher" executable. This file wasn't part of the archive in the link I was sent per email, but I had to copy it from the CD.

edit: it only starts the 020 version using the launcher. No luck with the 030 and wider screen.

Works fine here with the new ROMs and OS, 020 & 030, A1200 020 and 8 MB Fast, Blizzard 1230 IV 50mhz, 32 MB Fast...all tested from HD / icons without the launcher.
