Where do you buy your floppy disks from?

I see some really nice ones like I had back in the day, but my god the postage from America is almost as excruciating as their blockbuster movies:

Any tips for someone looking for some colourful disks?

There is plenty of new ones on ebay.co.uk, just search on there for dsdd disks.

That much for DSHD disks?. They are much more common than DSDD disks. I see packs of them in second hand stores on a regular basis. I don't have anything that needs them. The only computers I have that use floppies are my Amigas and Atari Sts and they need the older and rarer DSDD disks. The ones on the listing are DSHD disks which will only work in an A4000D. Because all the software for Amigas used DSDD disks the DSHD disks aren't much use on the A4000D either. The only thing I ever do with floppies is copy .adf images to them to install software.

Well, if you want cheap you could always use a rich tea biscuit!
Amigakit sell new DSDD disks in a pack of 100 HERE.
If you want used DSDD disks pre-formatted for the Amiga they are here.

I had a few problems in the past using 2HD disks with my Amiga. I was trying to do a copy of my two Workbench disks onto HD floppies. I had no worries making the copies. But the Amiga wouldn't read them when I inserted them in the drive. I made the same sort of copy onto a set of 2DD disks and I am having no problems at all with them since.

Yeah, a lot of it depends on the disk drive, some read/write them OK, others don't. I have 3 HD floppys here I copied UFO AGA on-to back in about 93 and they still read fine, I have just installed it on the hard drive off these floppys last week. You can try taping over the HD hole on the disk, that can sort out the problem with some drives I have found.

Don't you just need to put tape over the second 'HD' hole on the HD disks? Has always worked for me.

Ordinary Amiga (double density) floppy drives have no sensor for the high density hole so taping over it makes no difference.

It is required only if you need the floppy to be recognized as double density on a high density drive.

Exactly, which is why I said some drives are OK, others not.

Thanks guys, my ebay skills must be lacking because I could only find expensive ones from the US (well, shipping made them expensive).

I also looked on AmigaKit under the floppy/storage section and saw no disks whatsoever so nice catch ptyerman

I'm really interested in the translucent ones and I may have just found some in the UK which is close enough.

If anyone is looking to sell those kinds of disks I'd be happy to work with you

Aw that fooled me. The item wont go into my basket. Amigakit has been out of disks for a long time so I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw the 'In Stock' sign. Too bad because their disks were very good quality, thick plastic. Bought 50 disk from them about 5 years ago but not long after that they ran out and I've been waiting for them since.

Are you people searching on the correct site? Amikit is a completely different site to Amigakit.! You won't find owt on Amikit except emulation.

If you go directly to amigakit then select floppy disks or they're new dsdd link, then you get no products! If you google amigakit dsdd disks then you get a link through to the 100 new disks but I think that its somehow showing an old advert?

I cant add the disks on Amigakit.com either, it quotes me £0.46 for delivery (0KG) which has got to be wrong too seeing as 6 screws cos me around £0.90p before..

Think its just an out-dated link that has been removed from the site links, but the page is still on the server, hence google picking it up.
