Winner of ugliest car goes to.... Ferrari. WTF is that stupid wing supposed to do on the shark fine, other than decapitate a mechanics head if he forgets to duck in time.

And, ugh, awful colours on the McLaren.

So 4 years ago, Ferrari were pushing Red Bull for the title, now they cannot even make a decent car.

The dark days have definitely returned to them.

Yeah, that was a very memorable and frightening crash.

Ferriari have been in a real mess for a while now, with various changes at the top of Ferrari and several changes in the F1 team. I think it's safe to say Ferrari won't be winning the championship this year, but (like last year) placing a £1 bet on some of the most unlikeliest drivers to win the championship is a must at the start of the season! (Last year I placed £1 bet's against: Fernando Alonso @ 500/1, Jenson Button @ 500/1, Felipe Massa @ 750/1, Valtteri Bottas @ 750/1, Daniil Kvyat @ 1000/1)

SO much for your story then.

Still you cannot look past Mercedes and Red Bull at the moment, if they were in anyway worried they would've gone for it to see where they are. I think it's usual Ferrari testing running higher modes and lower fuel than everyone else. The truth will be revealed in a couple of weeks either way.

Cannot wait.

I know you won't like this post, but here we go.

I think that video kind of proves Ferrari went for the headline laptime there.

The cars are slower down the straights this year due to increased drag, but look how Kimi doesn't drop back that much. Looks like Ferrari were running the engine quite high for this lap.

We know Red Bull have been running the engine "detuned" as they like to say, and Mercedes also are notorious for not bothering with fast times (just look at last year, I don't think they did anywhere near Ferrari's fastest time, but come the first race hamilton was 8 tenths quicker than Vettel in Qualifying)

Will be interesting to see in qualifying if this theory is right, not that I will be watching at 2 in the morning.

Bottas about as far away from Hamilton as Rosberg was last year, this doesn not bode well for the season.

Race pace, unlike last year were Ferrari were pretty good (for the first couple of races unitl the 'upgrades' kicked in) are well off it.

Fingers crossed they were running the lowest possible engine mode and merc weren't doing the same.

If Hamilton especially really is that far ahead, may as well give him the title after this race save the hassle of the next 19 races.

@Ian

What do you think about the qualifying?
Is it what you expected or are you surprised by Ferrari performance?
Ham can use the "Magic button" during the single lap, don't forget it

Well, we'll see tonight.

Hamilton was over a second quicker during the long runs in practice.

Looks promising from qualifiying, but no conclusion can be drawn from it.

Mercedes clearly the quickest car by a considerable distance in my opinion, therefore another boring year in the offing

Missed qualifying and the first 17 laps of the race due to having to work this weekend.

From what I saw of the race, Vettel could give Hamilton a run for his money this season. It all depends on whether Hamilton can be gentler on his tyres and not pit a few laps before Vettel does. Bottas did a decent job sticking close to Hamilton. However, we don't know how much Hamiltons intermittent power loss and tyre issues affected his performance just yet. We will have to wait for the next race to find out.

Bad luck to Ricciardo, hope his next race goes smoother.
