Time for an update I think....
After a helpful user found some annoying cut-scene bugs in my DOTT port I was frustrated to discover that there was no real way forward with the old version of the underlying ScummVM engine it was based on. The only logical thing to do was to port the latest version of ScummVM over to 68k (and then AGA) and use that as a basis for Sam and Max AGA The 68k port of version 1.0.0 was a bit of a pain (mainly due to the lack of tools ) but I eventually managed it (I think it's still in the Zone if anyone wants a play), this first port needed both an RTG and AHI. I then started work at porting this port over to AGA and after a lot of hard work I've just got the basic graphics working today I've now got to tidy it up a bit and then look at adding the sound/speech/music. If it's easy I may do an AHI port but my main focus is getting it working SANS AHI (which always runs like a dead dog on my 030 Paula equipped 1200). Also (again if I ever get the time and the energy) I may release an AGA+AHI release of ScummVM version 1.0.0 which will support other games. Ok so it summary what we are looking at for the AGA version of Sam & Max is: 1) Using the latest version of ScummVM (this means that there will be no bugs!) 2) Full MIDI music, speech and digital SFX on a standard 030 AGA machine. 3) That's about it actually I'll try and grab a video of it running on my WinUAE box and stick it on YouTube for a laugh. Obviously when I've finished Sam & Max I will also re-release DOTT using the latest version of ScummVM. Last edited by NovaCoder; 16 April 2010 at 08:57. |

It seems my poor old PC is way too slow to capture AVI's from within WinUAE so I'll have to wait until it's running properly on my Miggy and capture it that way instead.

Hiya,
I'm in the middle of rebuilding my PC so I'll have to put this on hold for awhile, hopefully I'll be able to get back to it again soon. |
