I used to have a dual boot setup years ago for 98SE and 2K but haven't done it in so long I honestly can't remember how.
In your instance though would it not just be easier to use floppy boot disk to boot into DOS? |

Still can't believe how good POP2 sounds with all sounds. I've emulated Roland MT-32 in past but Sound Blaster sounds nice! |

I'm just grateful I have sound in true DOS! And laptop spec is pretty good. I do need to slow down processor and cannot disable L1 cache via BIOS! Might have to look at software alternatives

It's been a long time since I did it but I think you need to have 2 partitions, install 98SE firdt then XP and I think theres an option during the xp install to enable dual booting. The beast is back up and running, I just need to get it online as the network card drivers are being weird. Self extract exe from velkin and it created a folder called _ then fails and I can't delete the bloody folder. The pentium 3 machine is also up and running with its new gpu, radeon 7500 so could always use that. |

Just update. I did the following and now it boots to MSDOS. Interestingly, going to MSDOS via Windows 98 option does NOT allow DOS sound to be detected so it has to be on initial boot! The following may be useful for anyone wishing to do what I have:
Click Start, Shutdown, and Shutdown the computer in MS-DOS mode. Type cd\ to get to the C:\> prompt. Type attrib msdos.sys -r -a -s -h Type edit msdos.sys Locate the line BOOTGUI=1 and change the line to BOOTGUI=0 Save the file and reboot your computer. You can go boot into Windows by typing win and pressing enter. |

I am not sure how well it would run on the DOS laptop although I suspect given the specs needed it would run on that too... however, I don't have internet configured on that because the OS is now riddled with viruses I'd imagine if it went online? |
