Playstation rgb to hdmi for amiga
I'm really surprised that no one has thought of this. Since the US doesn't have Scart as a standard for our TV's, we have to find a better solution than scart to hdmi. Most scart to hdmi converters has too much lag for gaming. So I started looking at the hyperkin / pound cables for the retro systems and stumbled upon this solution. The Playstation adapter is a perfect fit for the amiga.
Simply cut the Playstation video plug off of the cable and wire in a DB23 plug directly. Works beautifully. I also wired in a left and right RCA cable to the audio lines in the adapter. Here is the adapter I used..... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MYVF61Y...p_mob_ap_share Wire colors in this adapter are as follows... Red wire=red Blue wire=blue Green wire=green Black wire=sync Brown wire=ground White wire=left audio Orange wire=right audio. Other wires, purple, yellow and grey are not used. You do not need to attach the ground to the audio RCA jacks. I will make a YouTube video soon and post it for reference. Hope this helps some people out. =) Last edited by kjmann14; 16 November 2019 at 02:54. |

Have you tried all the normal resolutions, 640x400 Interlaced, 640x512 Interlaced, low res modes, etc? How about the HighGFX Modes? No banding to speak of? |

Interesting solution for a decent price, looking forward to your youtube video. I wonder how much current it draws? Maybe you can power it from the Amiga pin 23 (+5V max 100 mA) as well.

Does it convert 50hz to 60hz frame rate conversion or does it do upscaling only?

Another interesting thing is whether it supports 240p/288p, but if it advertises itself as low lag, then there shouldn't be any deinterlace for progressive modes.. |

Ok. To answer all of your questions....
1. Yes, the black wire is connected to pin 10 csync. 2. Pyromania, yes I would gladly do one for you. 3. It requires 5 volt @ 1amp 4. Yes it takes care of pal/ntsc converstion. 5. I have tested all super Denise resolutions with no problems. I also didn't see any banding. Also, here is the correct link. The previous one is broken. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MYVF61Y...p_mob_ap_share Last edited by kjmann14; 14 November 2019 at 17:32. |

Hey kjmann, another nice idea
Going a little offtopic here, what happened to your RGB to component design? |

That's very interesting as I was looking at a similar interface for my PS2 and came across this. Can this be used by simply cutting off the phono connectors (I'd imagine the ground and sync must be somewhere in the RGB phono)? If this works, it is cheaper

The component adapter will not work. Wrong type of signal.
Lord aga: i scraped the component adapter that I was working on because it was picky about what TV's it would work with. |

Ah okay. I'm just thinking, I could probably use that interface you linked for any RGB signal. Now if I could build a custom male/female interface then it can be used with any number of devices simply by changing the end plug!

lesta_smsc: That would absolutely work. I've got it working on the Apple IIgs and Atari Jaguar as well.
