THIS CD CONTAINS ALL : .:::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::. :::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::. ::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::: :::::::: ::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::: :::::::####:::::::::::::::::::: :::::::: ######## :::::::: .::::::::::::::: .::::::::::::::::: ::#######::::::::. :::::::::: :::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::##::: ##########:::::::: :::::::::. :::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::####:: ####::#####::::::: ::::::::::. :::::::: :::::::: :::####: :::::::#####:::::: :::::::::: :::::::: :::::::: ::::#### :####:::::#####::::: ::::::SP: ###### ########### ### ########## ##### ##### ### ##### ##### ###### #### #### ############# ###### (CD compiled by JBM) ## ## ### ####### #### ### ##### ##### ###### ###### ##### ####### ##### ### ##### ### ###### ##### ### ########### ###### RELEASES ON AMIGA & C64! ## We have tried to get all stuff but as you probably realize it has been quite hard to get hold of all the stuff. So if you miss something from the early days of FairLight (1987-89) then you should not be too surprised! Still all other FLT stuff is here! Anyway, hope you will enjoy it! If you have a FairLight release but you can not find it on this CD, please email me: JBMFAIRLIGHT@HOTMAIL.COM This CD also includes some Fairlight releases that were never released to the public before! Lethal Weapon and Dogfight just to mention a few. The files have been packed with a new version of DMS which compacts the files much better. This is the reason why the files on the CD are much smaller than the original DMS files in the filelist. The few games that previously required a fix file are now already fixed. Also, some cracks may include a nice trainer! The majority of the DMS files are the original ones spread on the BBS's, including real dms-txt for the release! There are 7 different directories on this CD: ** FLTAMIGA, FLTC64, FLTPC, FLTGFX, FLTMUSIC, FLTHTML, EMULATOR ** (I think the name of the directories pretty much says what they include) All C64 titles has been collected and tested by Bacchus of FairLight (These are ofcause in the FLTC64 dir on the CD) Some graphics with different FairLight logos and other Fairlight related Graphics have been added. (FLTGFX directory) Also the Fairlight music in different formats have been added. + a bonus of several c64 .dat tunes for you nostaligics out there. (FLTMUSIC directory) 2 Official Fairlight internet sites have also been mirrored on the CD. HTTP://WWW.FAIRLIGHT.ORG - Strider's Fairlight site, The Main site. HTTP://WWW.FAIRLIGH.TO - Bacchus Fairlight site, Mostly C64. (FLTHTML directory) A little bonus for the PC owners. The last FairLight PC release is here! (FLTPC directory) Inside the emulator directory you will find both C64 emulator for the PC as well as amiga emulator for the PC. (EMULATOR directory) Divided into 2 sub dir's (C64 & AMIGA) The AMIGA files on the CD, has been collected by myself and I have decided to use 14 subdirectories for all of them. (FLTAMIGA directory) Here's a short explanation what you will find in each subdir: FLT1987--1997 directories The cracks are sorted in which year they were released E.g in FLT1991 all games were cracked in year 1991 and in FLT1990 year 1990 etc FLTCHEAT directory This directory includes all FairLight TRAINERS for games which were released and cracked by other groups. FLTDEMOS directory All FairLight intros/demos and Virtual Dreams productions are here! Also, some other files are here such as charts saying FLT=#1 FLTUNREL directory Games never released officially on BBS's are here. Have a good time playing all the good old FairLight cracks! Tosec did not have all of the original DMS releases from Fairlight! From this CD we (the geeks over at the Tosec project ) got the good dumps of Robocop 3 & Barbarian II! (Thanks to demoniac for this!)
So this CD is for scene nostaligics and it has also C64/PC stuff on it. Never got this CD myself, could only fetch the txt-files with the CD content... |

Yep, I got them from bippym. (Thanks!) BTW, RoboCop3_3 was modified by JBM as it has his high score on there. That might have not been on the original Disk 3.

Galahad: where do the profits from the CD go to? Where did the profits from the Fairlight BBS and Partyline go to?

To meet the criteria for the distributor account we had at GEM in London, we had to buy two originals at a time, we'd always buy two copies of the same game, so if one was damaged, we'd have a fair chance that the other version was ok. If you figure on at least 4-5 games a week, it gets expensive. So unless the BBS was WHQ or a Fairlight members, all those BBS's in the intros that were listed paid to be there. Fairlight also bought me a faster modem as well. |

You were lucky the group provided you with a modem too, they were expensive in the early 90s, and didn't really become affordable till 98/99 in New Zealand, and that was a internal one of the pc. A US Robotics external one would of cost $$$$. Can you tell me please how much the BBS's paid to advertise also, did the couriers get any money to fund their expensive calls overseas or were they left to fend for themselves. I find this part of the scene really interesting. Also what about entropy BBS in New Zealand. Who had permission to allow it to be Fairlight Amiga HQ in New Zealand? Thanks in advance, |

Can't remember exactly how much each BBS paid, something in the region of £100 a month.
Some of these BBS's would have charged leechers money to be able to take 0-1 day old warez. By being advertised on the Fairlight Intros, people were guaranteed to goto these BBS's, because they knew the Fairlight stuff would be there soon after release. Not only that, but the other major groups would also post their releases there to try and spoil a Fairlight release. If they couldn't get their release onto the Fairlight WHQ first, they'd goto the other Fairlight boards. So the leechers were always winners, because whoever cracked it first, they were sure to get the release quickly. Hybrid of Digital Candy BBS lent me a US Robotics Sportster modem, and Fairlight gave me the money to buy it outright. Chances are Entropy paid to be a Fairlight board. |

Thanks Galahad for that information , that's one thing Google doesn't tell you.
That seems to be a lot of money coming in when the Amiga was at it's peak, but like you said the costs of origional games back then were not cheap, especially if the release had to be 0day. What did you do with the origional after it was released hold on to it in case you missed a checksum and had to do a rerelease? Or sell it to reclaim costs? Also I read online that an interview with a Atari ST cracker and he said the Amiga scene was all about the money? Was the Fairlight PC scene also doing the same thing to cover costs all did you guys have a source at the manufacturers or at the developers? |
