Converting ADF to real Amiga floppy disk without Amiga ???

I once heard a wild rumour that it would be able to create an Amiga readable floppy disk without even touching Amiga hardware. It should be done with a PC that have 2 ordinary PC-floppy drives. I cannot believe this even myself cause it sounds too easy. Thought would be worth asking: its takes about 8 mins to convert disks via serial cable with my modest Amiga equippment. Higher baudrates than 19 200 won't work with 1 MB + kick1.3 combination...

@OldFool - As per your original question, it is possible to create Amiga floppies from .adf images without using an Amiga.

What you'll need is:

1. A Windows PC

2. A Catweasel Mk.IV, get one here: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...2500011bb2c7e3

3. A compatible PC floppy drive (see docs that come with the Catweasel)

Install the 'weasel in your PC, connect up the floppy drive, install the drivers and software that come with the card and, following the instructions that also come with the card, write the image to a real Amiga floppy disk that can be read by a real Amiga.

Job's a goodun.

You may also require:

4. A thimble full of good luck
5. A bucket full of patience

That was my experience anyway

Stupid amount of money for it. Best way is to get a harddrive for the Amiga. Plug it into your PC transfer loads of ADF's using Winuae. Plug back into Amiga and use an Amiga program to write the ADF's back to disk. Best and quickest method I reckon

You might already have one but you can get 6gig laptop drives from around £5 posted on fleabay.

Get an used A1200 & PCMCIA CF-Card reader, both together is probably cheaper than a Catweasel Mk.IV.

@Jimbo

The trick you talk about don't work with ndos disks with unfortunately is the type of disk that the majority of amiga games use.
Go the catweasel route for perfect floppy writing.

Depends what you mean by "NDOS"

If you mean original games with custom format or copy protection: can't do even with catweasel (hardware, at least in theory can do it but there is no software)

If you mean disks with AmigaDOS physical format but non-AmigaDOS logical format like most trackloading demos and cracked games that originally had copy protection (=disks that can be converted to standard adf): any method works.
