Thesius XII - "HD install" --> "ADFs"

Heya guys,

Yesterday I was playing the floppy version of Thesius XII which can be downloaded from here: http://www.underwaredesign.com/?page...ms.Thesius-XII

Cool game

I noticed that there was also a hard disk version available that was of course larger so investigated. This has the following extras that the floppy version doesn't:

a) Thesius XII (with speech).
b) End Sequence.

So; in my usual style I've gone ahead and created a set of .ADFs from the hard drive version which allows you to view / play everything:

The "ReadMe" file is quite interesting and also mentions "Built In Cheats":

Quote:
Built In Cheats
===============
T = Trainer
F8/F9/F10 = Upgrade Ship
Use either of the following configurations:

... ECS / KS 3.1 / 2MB Chip & 1MB Slow RAM.
... AGA configuration with at least 2MB Chip & 1MB Fast RAM; though I just use 2MB Chip & 4MB Fast RAM.

Archive now in The Zone! and also on the EAB file server with the rest of my "HD install" --> "ADFs" archives under the directory "~Uploads/DamienD/HD INSTALL --> ADFS"

Enjoy

Thanks Damien

I have just been playing the floppy version - which is too hard for me, so hopefully those cheats will help me

Thanks for pointing this game out in the other thread Lonewolf10

I must admit that I've also been playing this loads

One unfortunate "bug" is that on random occasions the game will just quit

After this occurred a few times I did start to wonder if this was due to me loading the game into RAM. Tested running directly from the hard drive installation and the floppy disk version numerous times but the same things happens...

Anyway; here's another useful piece of information from the "ReadMe.txt" file:

Oh, another interesting thing in the "ReadMe.txt" file is that when on the main title screen you can press <O> to bring up the game options screen:

Plugged in my wireless Xbox 360 controller and played for a bit. Bug doesn't happen when using this

Guess when I'm using keyboard the game doesn't like multiple key presses so sometimes crashes.

Made a few small changes to this set:

a) Added the ability to view the "License" file from the menu:

b) Noticed that when viewing the "ReadMe" file some lines were too long so characters were missing. This has been corrected.

Old file removed from The Zone! + EAB File Server and new file uploaded to both locations

No problem

Stage 2 (well most of the game!) is pure evil in design!

There is no way I could complete this game without cheating, LOL.

Yup, very difficult.

Managed to beat Stage 1 without the use of the trainer and got half-way through Stage 2...

...after dying, played again using the trainer from Stage 2 onwards so that I could see everything; damn Stage 3 is pretty hardcore

In the "ReadMe.txt" file Kevin mentions the following:

Code:
I've left in the Trainer Mode and level skip keys so you can browse
the game. Check the controls later in this document.
Unfortunately there is nothing about the level skip keys under the "Controls" section though (or anywhere in the file)...

Anyway; these are as follows:

<1> = Start at Level 1
<2> = Start at Level 2
<3> = Start at Level 3

Slightly related...

I modified the original .ADF found here: http://www.underwaredesign.com/?page...ms.Thesius-XII

...so that you can choose the following on startup (making it a more complete .ADF IMHO since the original just loaded the game immediately):

Also, tried to get in contact with the author a few weeks ago but sadly no response to my e-mail or via the web form

"ThesiusXII_2003_Full_ADF [modified].zip" is now in The Zone! for anyone who wants this

Of course the original "ThesiusXII_2003_Full_HD.lha" file or my "HD install" --> "ADFs" have more features though for those with higher spec Amigas...
