ZIP sucks!

Hey RCK!

Nice new updated Zone you got there now, but it just will accept ZIPs! Why do I have to ZIP LHAs? It's kind of.. pointless... I'm an Amiga man, I dont want to use ZIP if I can!

Can't LHA files be supported again? No need for CRC shenanigans.

Yes, I agree. There is no need to force Amigans to use an alien format such as ZIP on an Amiga board.

Why not LhA and/or LZX support? Even ARC, LZH, or ZOO would be better than ZIP; at least they are Amiga formats.

I seem to recall (though I could be mistaken) that at one time RCK had indicated that the restriction which only allows ZIP files was mainly due to the fact that it made life easier for him if he only had to support one archive format. Since the Zone has since been changed to allow you to see the contents of the posted archives, I'd think that would be even more true now than it was then. If you have to pick only one archive format to support, I'd have to think that picking ZIP would make the most sense, since it's the most widely used overall. You could always go with LHA or some other format, but you'd probably find that the folks who don't have real Amigas would be a bit less likely to post files to the Zone than they do now. Just my 2 cents worth - your mileage may vary.

you can now upload other files than zip...
but the archive content & crc won't be displayed.
