"The biggest unanswered question is ..."

"...where is the money?"

This line is most remembered from Blood Money, but it also appears in the track "System of Survival" by Earth Wind & Fire, published in 1987, two years before the BM release.

Since Ray is with us, may I ask what is the ORIGINAL source of the sample?
Maybe a CNN news?
Would be a plausible idea...not?

BTW: @Ray: On usenet, I found an old post saying part of the BM music is not by you, but by Tim Wright. That true?

Here is the what I know regarding the sample. I bought 3 sample cassettes in the mid/late 80's from a DJ friend of mine for £75. Somewhere amongst that, was this sample. I shall now ask him about it, and he may be able to shed some light. I seem to remember he had some albums with "clean" samples (like the BBC sfx albums) and these had those hard to find and popular samples used at the time. My guess is that it comes from some 60s tv show?

No, it's all by me, shame that it is. Don`t forget that this "music" was the first thing I ever made in Soundtracker, in about 3 hours one afternoon. I once got mixed up with Dave Whittaker in a magazine, and I pestered them to change it / appologise, as it affected my future contracts in a negative way.
I`m sure that Tim would never "claim" that music anyway

Just seen this..

actually, the earliest I can trace it to is a [American?] radio broadcast concering the Sex Pistols, circa 1978. It features on the album "Flogging A Dead Horse", hm, or was it "Some Product" I imagine it predates even that, as such soundbites are very very rarely original.

I don't know why you are so negative regarding the track.

It is fantastic IMO and I actually had it on tape and drove my parents nuts with it back in the early 90's.

Blood Money is also the first game I ever brought for my Amiga and the gfx/sfx blew me away and caused a friend of the family to buy himself an Amiga

I suppose.. but as long as it's taken in context for the time period, and the game music about at the time... of course I`ll be more critical of it, because it's not very good technically, but at the time it could be described as "refreshing" ?

1978?
That's very early, and would disprove my assumption that it was taken from the early 1980s ...
