What about the forgotten Legends of Valour ?
Not a 3d shooter granted but the engine was by Paul Woakes of Mercenary/Damocles fame.. It looked superb back then |

I voted Fears, because it's the one that for me was the closest to Doom, and i liked the most.
I played AB3D, Gloom Deluxe, Breathless too, but none of these were so smooth as Fears on my A1200 28Mhz, also Fears was full screen and a "real" doom, while others weren't either full screen (AB3D) or real dooms (gloom), or had only same looking and small ennemies (Breathless).. Well, tastes and colors.... Last edited by Lord Riton; 21 November 2012 at 03:50. |

This is the PC version, Amiga version, wich i had bought, had no textured sky or floor, just textured walls. I liked it a lot too, but it's not an FPS, more a half RPG adventure game, with mediocre merchants, and really not much action. Still i loved that game because it was the only one of it's kind on the Amiga .. Not sure if the english version had the same names, but i remember geting a letter from my cousin Sven to come here in the town of Mitteldorf !

I remember Jurassic parc II had some textured 3D mapping part too. Never played it, but i remember that and that i wanted to have it
Edit: ok it was simply "Jurassic park", tought it was the 2nd version. You can check the 3D part there : http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xgj...iga_videogames go arround 26mn to see it. |

Hey Guys,
I see alot of these are AGA/RTG only. I just managed to get DOOM to run on my Amiga630. Using the special indivision setting to use the chunky mode. I also know that you can use the Picasso96 driver in workbench to provide 256 colour modes. Would I be able to use this RTG mode in any of these games ? Or do any of them support the graffiti chunky mode ? |

DOOM's special chunky mode (aka direct frame buffer) is a bit slow, the P96 ECS driver is based on this mode so it's also slow I'm afraid. Some of these games do support Graffiti but unfortunately Graffiti is also slow on ECS, better to go for AGA or RTG if you want some 256 color speed |

IMO Genetic Species has the most exciting and varied gameplay of these.

"Indivision ECS" just means it's made to fit ECS machines like the A500+/A600. What the game is using is (I'm saying this without knowing one jot about aDoom) a new graphics mode on the graphics card called Indivision ECS.
I have yet to see any Doom/Quake-like game running at all on my A600 + ACA630 (no graphics card). |

Well, going by game play and not so much by graphics, I would have to say that Alien Breed 3D swept me off my feet once I got a couple levels into it.
Having been through it's resources to try to create my own AB3D game for Odamex, I noticed a lot of short cuts that they took to make this DOOM clone run so well on an Amiga, and at the same time while playing this I noticed a lot of cool features that DOOM did not have which still amaze me to this day. AB3D II also had some really interesting lighting effects, but the level design was rather drab and the texture lay out did not look like it had any effort thrown into it. All in all, like some of the Amigas other FPS', it came across as a tech demo more than it did as an enjoy able game. I'd also vote Citadel as I really enjoyed it even though technically it was only on par with Wolfenstein 3D. Sadly I can not find the original American disks for the life of me. :/ |

After I had received my 1260 in 2002 (or so) I have tested every game mentioned in the poll an was mostly impressed by Genetic Species (Story, GFX, Gimmicks,Atmosphere).
On an A500 without any turbo for me there´s no remarkable other FPS than Hostages (level 2) |
