Backing up an amiga HDD

Can anyone tell me how to do this? Ive got a HDD with loads of software on it and im wanting to back it up to another HDD with a larger capacity as im running low on space on the first drive. Is there a simple way to do this? Cheers.

What sort of Amiga are you running? If it's a bigbox or a SCSI system you can just add another drive and do a copy. Most likely you've go an A500/A600/A1200 - haven't you?

There are probably many ways to do it...

1. You could buy an IDE adapter that supports more than 1 drive and just do a copy.

2. You could buy a compact-flash adapter for your PCMCIA slot and use that.

3. You could connect it to your PC and use WinUAE to back up your data.

I'd say #3 is probably your easiest choice as you could use an external USB case to connect your drive to the PC and these are VERY cheap (if you don't have one already).

I've done this with great success. Bought a $10 CF to PCMCIA adapter, used an old 256MB CF card and backed up my entire a1200 hard drive! It was extremly easy to do.

Tell me the names of your 2 drives and I will tell you exactly how to do it.

I assume both drives are connected to your Amiga?
