Might have fried my Amiga :(
I was installing a cflash adaptor today into an old 1200.
It was working but with no LED light. I pulled the cable out, got distracted and plugged it in the wrong way.. Cue magic smoke from the cflash card. I think I might have blown the IDE on the mother board. The machine won't boot with a cflash (another obviously!) connected. Is this likely? I notice some of the pins in the connector are bent too. I'm hoping it's just a bad connection from a bent pin. It boots to floppy fine with just the ribbon cable connected. Last edited by frank_b; 27 November 2015 at 22:16. |

Connecting it the wrong way usually shorts out the +5V line. If you're lucky, you've just damaged the adaptor or cable, but there's also a chance you've burned the +5V trace on the motherboard. Chances are it can be repaired if that's the case, but you'll need someone with a bit of electronics knowledge... As it happens, I'm in Glasgow too (West End) and can give it a look for you if you needed?

I know several Amiga and Atari people here. It would be great to get a retro group going. |

Cool, hopefully you get it sorted then but I'm happy to have a look and give a 2nd opinion if not.
Yep, I believe there are a few alright. I had the idea to have a SWOS night in a pub somewhere local, but never did anything about it. I reckon there are a few pubs in the West End that would be up for that... But meeting would be good alright! |

It lives.. swapped out the adaptor, changed the cable and it's back up and running YAY!
It was some bent pins... |
