Amiga 1000 Rom Issues
Hey guys,
i ordered the amiga 1000 kickstart switcher from a user on amibay, i forget his name but its an awesome piece of kit. it comes with two 40 pin slots to allow dual kickstart booting by holding ctrl ramiga lamiga for a set amount of time. i have a few amiga 1000s coming in and i wanna try it on one of them and not my main amiga 1000. thing is, i ordered the roms on ebay, they said they would also work on the A1000 and CD32. but these roms are 42 pin roms and not 40 pin like my adapter. how is this gonna work? will it work or should i try and burn some 40 pin roms? any help is appreciated! thanks guys! //kneehighspy |

If I remember correctly you might be able to just plug it in so that two legs are not connected for it to work.

The above suggestion by HelloBeautiful indeed sounds plausible, but I would advise caution without corroboration, together with details of which pins should remain unconnected.
Edit: I have moved this thread to the support.Hardware forum. |

What ROMs are 42 pins? Not sure I would bother with those, and it seems they are not 27C400 EPROMs?

27c800 for example.. The two extra pins are A18 and NC, A18 should be pulled high or low depending on which bank of the ROM you want to access.
27c160 has A18 and A19 on the two additional pins. |

WOW! These are the half assed "legit" Clainto brand with incorrect chips! So you have it reversed as you are better off with BOOTLEG ROMs as they will use the correct chip!
