CDTV controller unresponsive?
Hi,
I bought a used CDTV off eBay recently and have been playing around with a few games. Generally I've gotten the feeling that the controller is a little unresponsive. Sometimes I need to tap the buttons twice to get the desired effect and this gets really annoying when playing games. What I'd like to know is, if this is considered normal behaviour for the controller. I've tried different distances and angles in case it's the IR signal that's not reaching the console, but it hasn't helped. I've also changed the batteries to the controller without effect. I don't have another controller to try so that's why I'm asking. Any ideas? |

You could try stripping down the controller and cleaning the button contacts etc inside...

Well, my CDTV controller is a little flaky, but not to the extent it's annoying...
Every so-often I get times when a button press won't register properly an I have to push it again... But generally I think it's me tilting it away from the reciever... |

Well, I was sitting some 20cm away from the unit while playing Turrican, pointing the controller right at the console and it didn't register half the pushes I did "quickly", ie. while moving the player character back and forth. If I pressed the buttons very firmly to the bottom it did work but while doing this quickly it didn't register a bunch every now and then.
I guess it's really a controller thing. I just don't know if it's this particular one or every single one. |

New batteries?
That's a good price for that controller, I bought some from Vesalia in germany 2 years ago for about £6 each. New, sealed. |
