A500 3.5" diskettes

Can someone explain all differences in 3.5" diskettes compatible on the Amiga 500? Thus far, I've seen DS DD & SS DD. Are there some DS without being DD? i'm really confused. Is there a particular/preferred diskette to transfer adf images to?

DS DD tends to be the one although I have used HD disks temporarily to try stuff but wouldn't trust them for long in my miggy!

[edit] DS = Double sided (some computers had single sided drives!)

SS = you guessed it- single sided

DD = double density

HD = High density

I used DS DD's as HD's (hole drilled in the other side) for years... some that written in 1992 (and used almost daily until 2001) still work today!

No-one go from Amiga to SNES with floppy disk based Copier?

Half my Amiga demo collection was turned into these hybrid 1.6Mbyte disks for the SuperMagicom

I went from Amiga to PC and drilled my entire MOD collection. "I can get these back from anywhere" :-(

My disks didn't last very well as HD though, as most of them were bulk brand.. However I did manage to 2M format some of them to 1.9MB formatted capacity. :-D

I still have 3m dd disks with the hole drilled for hd usage and they perform without errors!
Curious.

It's always a gamble. :-)

However like we've said many times before, HD and DD media are not the same.. It's not a conspiracy against the consumer, even though some people like to think it is. :-)
