I must have the worst luck with my Amiga hardware. Now ACA500
I just got an ACA500. I plugged it in my working Amiga 500, and .......... nothing.
Black screen, no drive clicks. Sometimes the screen comes on white (which made me think something was going to happen), but I was depressed. I tried with and without a known good CF card. The caps lock light flashes (and can be turned on and off). The power light comes on sometimes. When it comes on, it appears bright and does not change brightness. Floppy light never comes on. Any ideas? I really don't think it is the board (I just went through a whole return process at AmigaKit for a different board. They were great, but there is no way I can be this unlucky). Thanks. |

Clean the edge connector on the A500 with IPA (or any contact cleaner tbh) and make sure the ACA500 is seated well on the connector (make sure its straight to the motherboard)
Good luck! |

Make sure the card is fully inserted as well. I'm not sure what the ACA cards are like but on my Apollo you have to push VERY hard to put it on.

Yup. NTSC rev 5. Sigh.
I tried switching it to PAL (which i did), hoping that would do the trick. It didn't. Thanks for the info. |

Did you clean the edge connector as advised? It has 25 years of dirt on it by now

I have that picture infront of my inner eye right now. Layers of dirt, dust, grease and rubbish. If anyone remembers the very detailed stills from the "Ren and Stimpy show" you will know what I mean.

I did clean it. It is because of the rev5 NTSC board. I have ordered a rev 6a
