@SnkBitten, BTW, What hardware have you installed Amithlon on? I hear Amithlon has the fastest performance with LW, even when compared to WinUAE, is it true?

It's an Intel Core2Duo running at 4 GHz. It runs faster than my WinUAE setup on an i7 at 3.4 GHz, very noticable when in Lightwave 3d and rendering a scene preview in wireframe. You can't playback the preview but making it runs near real-time anyway. You can keep all your objects as wireframe too when manipulating them in composing your scene which is nice. Actual 24bit frame renders aren't much different though compared to my WinUAE config....but scene composing and preview making are much nicer on Amithlon.

Muadib: some cool camera movement.
do you use some DOF addon to change the focus of the cam? the emulators layout/modeler performance indeed feels like playing with my old 030/882. this did never really improve when emulating. |

It's one of the benchmark scenes, WinUAE making the preview and then Amithlon making the preview, dragging the timeline forward and back and making the preview again. WinUAE Lightwave running on A4000 configuration maxed out with JIT on Amiga Native modes, Amithlon at 1024x768 using ModePro (1024x768 32bit at 8 colors). To be fair to WinUAE I went back and did the same for WinUAE using uaegfx (1024x768@32 8 color ModePro promoted) and it gave a slight speed increase over the native Amiga mode, probably not worth it type of increase. http://amithlon.snkbitten.com/files/...E-Amithlon.mp4 On Amithlon/lightwave I have under the Options panel/Layout View the "Bounding Box Point/Polygon Threshold" set above 12,000 which eliminates the bounding box movement in Layout giving me wireframe movement. |

Rendering times are about the same, which I thought was interesting.
The only real advantage would be in layout while composing your scene as the final output would be about the same render time. Here's rendering the space fighters scene on my Amithlon using the CyberGFXRender plugin. Default scene but with NTSC Widescreen and Square Pixels set. https://photos.app.goo.gl/vIN1A7ytDf6IE5oi1 |

@Marchie Many thanks!
@SnkBitten This rendering on Amithlon, WOW! Does LW take advantage of every core? I have to do this scene on both my real and UAE Amiga to compare... (As far as I know, each WinUAE instance 'sees' 1 core, so clock speed is important) |

Amithlon is single core just like AmigaOS. It only uses one core.

Thanks! No, everything is through envelope manipulation, all three Camera Aspects (zoom, DOF, F-Stop). I'll include the scene as well when I' m finished with modelling. I did spend some time watching some BSG scenes over and over again, trying to translate them to keyframing over time... Mindbending... |

I was going through the latest messages in case I had missed anyone else's...
@SnkBitten you mentioned that you can't playback the preview in Layout, how come? |

Interesting. So, not even Picasso users can playback previews on non-AGA screens? Or?

Oh...and just for grins....I'm still trying to get a better "turbo thrust" effect. I may have to start looking at some other methods. I'm definitely looking forward to your scene file and objects so I can pick up a few techniques you are doing.
