Roll eyes (sarcastic) Scoopex XMasDemo released!

Hi! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I revived a simple old demo I did in 1992. It was my first and only demo for 1MB chip machines, since I got my A500+ a while before.

However, nowadays I like demos that work on Kick 1.3/0.5M Chip 0.5M Fast, so the first thing I did was to slaughter the 487K of music

Weirdness of the music is preserved though

Even so, it just barely fits, its chip memory requirements are so big there isn't even space for a decruncher! So the files are loaded and the demo starts.

Should work fine on accel Amigas and from harddisk, so long as chip memory from $f000-$7f000 is free and there is some fast/slow memory. (It has been run without music on my A500/040 from harddisk.) It will tell you and exit if not. If not, try turning off external drives by rightclicking @boot.

All the original files are there to show you how it's done. Not a super clever trick, just got inspired and decided to program this in November 1992. ChipMon is a utility I made that checks free chip memory ranges, rounding off to even 4K-blocks.

SCX-Boot V2.1 is also included. It's an antivirus bootblock with some useful features. However FastMem toggle does not work for Kick 2.0 and up.

I also put it in the Zone if your browser is made to auto-open download links

Photon you rock!

But it was little short. I would more call it a intro.

ps. seems not to work with two drivers enabled.

hehe, yes the key to making it work is to

- Turn OFF External Drives. -

For example with the right-click boot utility.

Tried several evenings in a row to make it start at all. Worked fine in Asm-One, but not as object file. Then worked as object file, but when I added music not enough low chip mem. So for every change I made I had to write it to disk and boot from it, then switch back to '040 and reboot ...

So it was slow work, the reason was that it was made in an unfinished version (0.24) of my old Development System. In the end I had to patch it even to make it start.

(Actually, I made an attempt in 1999 to make this a millennium intro lol ) But didn't have the patience to delve into all the macros and includes.

Oh well. Next release will be more system friendly
