Hyperion's Descent is not good, you need Nova's Descent

Anyway, to get back on topic.

Really looking forward to playing Strife AGA

Until that arrives the port by Christian Sauer is a better choice IMHO. For those that missed my previous post his latest ports (AFAIK) of Descent and Hexen are not on Aminet, but can be found here:

Yes, back on topic.
An RTG port would better suit my A1500. But looking forward to checking this out anyway.

Thanks James, did not know of this work.
I see there is a Wolf3D port there too. Any good?

That one is on Aminet:
http://aminet.net/package/game/shoot/Wolfenstein3D
It only works with the shareware files, and could do with more work, but it runs OK(ish) on my A1500/040/RTG. I think the AGA port is more optimized, although I have not tried it myself.

Aha thanks James. Can the Descent and Hexen ports be upped to Aminet before they are lost in webarchive? Is Christian still about?

AWolf3D runs far better than Wolfenstein3D on my A1200s. Still not as impressive as the ST version, which would be an awesome one to port to the Amiga, being in 16 colours it'd run on OCS and probably run faster than the 256 colour version on AGA Amigas too.

lantus360, I'm very sorry for going off-topic, the whole subject of porting these PC games to the Amiga is exciting though.

not a problem at all by all means keep it going

im still working on performance. We are at 20fps now on an 060/50. Getting closer where i want this to be.

Incidently i saw that guide on FPS performance for Doom..i cant get ADoom anywhere near 24fps on my 060. For me it chugs along at 12-15 most of the time. Is that normal? I tried a few patches/removing some patches/clean startup-sequence to no avail. Boom on the other hand just flies for me. I wish i could timedemo it (hint hint Nova

Strife is certainly more detailed than Doom without question. It runs on the same engine but its been modified to handle more planes and segments. There is also a seperate WAD file thats needed just for the voice dialog in the game

You should be getting 20-25 fps with the ADoom timedemo. I get 40 fps but that's with a 68060@75MHz and RTG. Others have had poor performance though too. Maybe something in this thread will help:

If you are looking new project this could be nice

http://zod.sourceforge.net/

Game was originally announced to Amiga 2002 by Clickboom

It is SDL based, so make it playable with 68k, you would need to replace SDL parts with native routines.

RTG is a good question, will it be done? would be quite useful on many systems.

Nice work! I wished it would be playable on 040, like it is on 060.
Strife was slow on A4000 040/25Mhz, mostly in the open world parts.
