New posts

I think this have been discussed before, but whatever...

There´s anyway to mark forums as readed ONLY WHEN I want to do it, and not after some time?

I ask that because I check eab from my work sometimes, but usually I only have time to check a couple of threads, and then I need to do something else. When I get back to EAB, all forums that I didn´t see before are marked as readed, and I miss lots of new posts because of that.

Any solutions?

I find that View today's active threads can be used.

It's easy if you remember the last time you'd read everything.

But that's easy said than done !

Yes, but even still it's very cumbersome because you can't get to the newest message. I really hate the timed effect on new messages. Sometimes I want to come to EAB just to check for a PM from Codetapper or something, but don't have the time to commit to the day's new messages. So if I do this, then I have to read them now or lose the new message markers. I know, I can use that last message button on the right, but it's just a whole lot of workarounds when I think it would be more practical if a thread is only marked as read if it is, in fact, read.

This and the logout problem are pretty bad for me. I know, it acknowledged me to write this reply, but when I hit the submit button, I was logged out, had to copy the text, close the window, open the main page in a new window, login, view today's most active threads, open this thread again, and THEN I was finally able to make this reply! SHEESH!

Yep I was miffed at this too, but RCK said it wasnt possible to fix it until the next vBulletin engine release, or something like that.

When you are at work it gets tedious.

Yeah, it's crazy at work. One minute I'm laughing my ass off reading messages, the next I am in a fight with some neanderthal pressman over color registration issues. When I'm at work, I should just stick with scannimg...

Yeah, I should stick with that for now..

Twistin, things like that happens a lot here too..

At least now I am doing something very nice, I am installing Delphi 6 on 12 Pentium 233MHZ with 32 mbs.

This will take AGES to do, so I can check EAB now without any hurry
