King of Karate
Opalvision used to claim this was the worlds first true 24bit game. Does it really require an Opalvision card to run or can someone upload a version to the zone that works with WinUAE?

This game would interest me too.
I've just tried to set up a HDF for this game, but I only got a black screen. You might be right: without an OpalVision board this game might not work at all. But let the experts speak first. ![]() Anyway, it could really be that the ONLY version available is the one requiring an OpalVision board, for it was issued to do a sort of promotion for that OV hardware board available back then. For on Aminet, there's an A4000 fix available, and in the readme you can clearly read "requires the OpalVision Main Board"! I don't even know what the particular characteristics of this main board actually were... |

Perhaps someone can crack it to let the game run on any RTG screenmode!!!
I'm interested as much in King of Karate as I am in the supposedly brilliant OpalPaint! |

I have an OpalVision board in my A2000, but I really don't care for it. I want system-friendly 24-bit, which OV doesn't do. OpalPaint I got used to and did lots of stuff with it, but without 2megs of chip, you are limited to lores 24-bit editing, which is a shame.
Surely someone can hack KoK to bypass calls to the OV board and use RTG instead. Finger crossed, anyway! |

Does anybody have any screenshots of this game? I always thought it sounded cool but never got to see it.

On the other hand, a brilliant graphic artist I used to work with (The Tapeworm) also acquired an Opal board close to the same time I did and he loved the game. And he was very good at games, too. It could be that I was so caught up in my BBS and that there was no interest in the game for my users that kept it from my memory. In any case, my copy is with my original disks which have yet to ariive here (and it's not installed on my HD, either). Sorry...I'm not much help here at all, I know. |

cracking
I'm quite sure that game itself doesn't require opalvision board, it's somekind of copy protection.

I have 3 different versions of this game uploaded to the zone. One set is from Tosec and marked as bad [b], 2 are non Tosec and maybe work.
It would be nice if someone could test them and reply if they work. I've seen there is a readme on the disk 1 with install instructions. Have fun! |
