Maybe you could ask Mr Hames if he could also release the source code? eg. in case any bugs are discovered that need fixing, or it could be developed further as an open source effort?
The worst thing that could happen is that he says no.

Did anyone succeed in mounting a hardfile? I noticed that there wasn't an hardfile.device included with PC-Task 4.x so i used the one supplied with PC-Task 3.x. And i ran the program to mount the filedisk, and everything looks ok but i won't get mounted.

Should there be a second disk for the 4.x version too?

i upped a 4.4 version which includes a hardfile.device. if you still run in trouble with the hardfile - maybe it's empty, so you have to use fdisk tool first.

I havent posted the email I sent to him (I thought it was boring, since it was basicly the same as the one I sent to Michiel Pelt), in that email I asked for the sources, and those posted above were his replies. So I am afraid it is no sources release.

I hope that I'll get to try that soon. Thank you very much, Matt.

I haven't grabbed PC Task yet, but of course can't leave without also offering my gratitude to both gulliver and Mr. Hames. Thanks, guys.

I remember PC-task can play lots of old dos games like psion chess but it lacks sound emulation as soundblaster or adlib
I don't remember if PCtask can emulate PC internal beeps
anyways this is crap compared with DOSbox

@Fabie
DOSbox is cool, but then it requires a graphics card, and it is much slower than PC-Task.

DosBox is a nice little gadget for fast computers. However, I don't think I've seen a DosBox running Win95 yet?

Hence, PCTask is better :P

No seriously.... DosBox isn't an "enulator" as of such, it's more meant to enable you to play those oldies-goldies form the DOS era. While PCTask is a fullblown emulator and will enable you todo "anything" the PC (that it is emulating) was able todo.

Man that brings back some memories - I used PC Task and Cross Dos for the longest time to bring work home with me. Eventually they switched to windows 3.1 at work - which eventually prompted me to get a cheap PC and write it off at tax time.
Was about the time that the Ami was in it's swansong (95-96ish) and I was fixing to change jobs and countries anyways.

Still, for the longest time those were all I needed - funny when you think of it, it's taken 14 years to swing around to the same situation looking through the other end of the telescope.

Read the docs for PCX first or use this link; http://aminet.net/search?query=snoopdos Download and install SnoopDos, run SnoopDos and then run PCX, if SnoopDos then reports that a file or more are missing to allow PCX to run, then go to Aminet and try to search for the missing files. Try also to google after the missing files.
