It might be an elusive card but it's an 030... 800?

Maybe it's a typo with one too many zeros?

It is expensive yes but also somewhat rare. Not easy to find such a beefy card with SCSI for an A500. If you think it is too expensive, just don't buy it.

Nope, no typo.. And for everyone else who think this is expensive, have you checked SX-32 Pro prices on Ebay or anywhere else lately? That is also "only" a 030 card. It's about rarity and supply/demand simple as that.

Personally I would not pay even 500€ for any PPC card because (and this is MY opinion) it's pointless, and yet some do pay even thousands..

So it's VERY simple, if you think the price is not right for YOU, then DON'T buy this card.

Price is in the range of what can be expected for such a unicorn.

Interested, pending a list of questions.

Cheers,
McT

When it comes to collectors and purists, I'm sure the price is right. I apologize if I come off harsh, it's just a bit of a frustration when you're in the market for an accelerator but don't want to pay high prices on old hardware without warranty especially if it's going to be used a lot. For a collector, fine. To use occasionally? Risky. I'm holding on to the edge of my seat watching new boards almost ready to be released for much less expense. I'm in the demographic for one of those. All the best with the sale. I'm sure someone with the budget and the desire will be happy to own it.

Come the release of the Vampire A500 it will worth significantly less to all but the most die hard collector.

Hmmm... I disagree. Vampires give you a much nicer performance but they cost a helluva lot more, than a modern day equivalent to the A530, and Vampires are not being produced in quantity.

Reason why people pay big money for old kit, they want the old kit as a historical artifact. That's something you can't build into a Vampire.

It's not something I would do, pay big bucks for old kit, but collectors do as they please. Buying and selling.

A new product like the Vampire is not the same as a classic old accelerator like this one, so comparing them directly like that is not really sensible. If you look at raw performance then the Vampire will severely beat it yes, but some people just like having genuine old-school stuff. The market for old school accelerators will not disappear even if the Vampire becomes available in quantities.

If you wanted a really quick Amiga, you'd just run WinUAE on a cheap PC and be done with it. There are many reasons as to why this is just not 'right' for many people.
WinUAE is great, but it will never replace a real Amiga just like the Vampire will never replace 'real' 68k CPUs, no matter how compatible it is.
