0281 Black Crypt 3 Disks
Heya, i checked out this game last night an the caps version (3 disks) an there is a problem. The original Black Crypt came on 4 disks, 3 game disks an one custom save disk.
Without that 4th save disk you cant save the game as no disk is recognised as a valid saver, blank disks an things are not accepted. I am pretty sure this is right as i owned the original game for years as it was one of my fave RPG's. Last edited by Locash; 07 January 2005 at 05:47. |

Hi, there Locash. I seem to remember that the manual told you how to create the save disk, you had to label it something specific in workbench I think, I also seem to remember a game that came with a formatting utility (not sure if that is Black Crypt or not) - does that ring any bells with you? I also own the original, but unfortunately I am not entirely sure where it is right now with all the other games I hold for CAPS. Thinking about it a little more, I remember I most definitely had my own created save disk with a blue sticky label, I can even picture my writing on it "BLACK CRYPT CHAMPIONS" - not bad for 10 years or so - shame my memory is not so good now!
Of course, it is entirely possible that there were versions of the game that supplied the save disk too. HOL refer to the 3 disk version (HOL Database (id=126)). If anybody does have a 4-disk version, they are most welcome to dump it! But of course they need to have not actually saved anything to the save disk. Heya Fiath, there must have been more than one version of the game mastered, it sticks in my mind so much because it was one of the only game i owned that came with its own save disk an didnt use its own creation system.
Unfortunatly my copys got sold years ago so it could be time playing tricks with my memory Last edited by Locash; 07 January 2005 at 10:34. |

Well, we will certainly keep an eye out for one, finding an unmodified copy might be tricky though. One day I will dig out the manual and see what it says about it...
Your right about save disks though, the only game I remember that did that was Fontier Elite II... |

I've bought this game twice and they were 3 disk versions both time. I've never seen a 4th disk for the game, I always had to create it myself
A standard blank disk will do as long as it's labelled GAMESAVE |

There was no 4th disk. The manual includes this note for users playing from floppy disk:
