Issues with Scart to HDMI converter
Recently i bought a Scart to HDMI converter from Amazon (this one) to connect my A1200 to a 4:3 19" LCD monitor with a DVI input using a RGB to Scart cable and a HDMI to DVI adapter.
The converter should be able to sync to a resolution of 1280x1024@60Hz (native monitor resolution) using the 720p/1080p button. The problem is...it doesn't work, the monitor keep saying "no signal input" even after pressing the resolution button or the PAL/NTSC button. Connecting the adapter to a HDMI input of my 39" TV i can see a picture with very poor quality, not centered, wrong aspect ratio (even forcing 4:3) and i can only switch between 2 resolutions 720p and 1080p without any improvement. Same thing happens using my 22" PC monitor's HDMI and DVI inputs, only 2 resolutions available (720p and 1080p), very blurry, not centered and faded picture with wrong aspect ratio. The RGB to Scart cable works perfectly connected directly to the TV without the adapter and gives a good quality picture, centered with correct aspect ratio and vivid colours. Am I doing something wrong or it's a faulty unit? |

It looks similar to a unit I bought on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251999926131. The only difference I can see is the text on the first button. Mine says Scart/HD and the one on the picture you send says CVBS/HD. Mine works flawlessly. I have only tried to connect it to my HP LP2475w monitor, which has HDMI input. Image is sharp and perfectly centered. I can switch between 5 resolutions through the 720P/1080P button: 1280x1024@60Hz, 1024x768@60Hz, 800x600@60Hz, 1080p and 720p.
I would suspect your unit to be faulty. Do you have another source for a scart signal you could try with, like a VCR or DVD player? |

I tried on 3 different monitors/TV with a ps2 slim and another power supply too, same behaviour as before so the unit might be faulty after all...

I've got to say that I'm not so happy with my Scart to hdmi adapter. The picture is perfectly clear, but the colors aren't so nice. My tv has some options to change the preferences, but even with them I just can't use some wallpapers, they don't look right.
Maybe it's just my LG tv. I have the feeling it was looking better with my smaller Samsung one. |

Hi,
Did you try an interlaced screenmode on the Amiga? Amiga HiRes output is 240p for NTSC and 288p for PAL, not all video decoder devices, used in SCART-HDMI adaptors, can handle 240p/288p, they expect something similar to 480i or 576i (interlaced NTSC or PAL). Ian |

I tried any possible combination between ntsc, pal, laced and not laced screen modes but the quality was just too low with wrong aspect ratio compared to a direct scart connection.
I read in some comments that newer converters, despite looking the same as the old ones, can only display 720p/1080p and the image quality is very poor. I saw many video reviews and the quality was pretty decent, mine wasn't at all so i ended up returing it and got e refund. Thanks for your help |
