Success! I was just able to get past that jump in the exact same way you can see in the long play on YouTube:

The player takes a hit and is thrown back whenever you press the right shift button, and this is exactly what Schlauchi is doing at 13:10 in order to get thrown back and land on the lower platform.

I discovered it by accident and I have no idea if it's intentional and if so what the effect is supposed to simulate. The game manual might say something about it.

Yup, it's a very bad arcade conversion and probably the worst scrolling on the Amiga

i really don't understand all the bitching and moaning about this game. it's great for its time, an almost identical translation. only setback being the control which isn't as fluid like in the arcades.

Well don't think you could call it a 'identical translation'. Have a look : [ Show youtube player ] Even if the YouTube vid is too fast you can see the scrolling is not nearly as crappy as on the Amiga and I think the Amiga could have the same colours. It's not a bad game, but the Amiga conversion is simply not good.

Typical Tiertex Amiga porting crap. But surpsingly the Speccy game is decent for this limited 8-bit machine.

You can also compare 1943 for amiga and arcade - another crappy conversion.

Have to agree Rolling Thunder is a really bad port. Most likely one of Tiertex' first ones and I guess the founders (who coded the port themselves) didn't have time to study the hardware properly since it was new.

Browsing through the code you can see they're not using the blitter, but instead the CPU to do all drawing, and forcing the update rate to every third frame. The port is very poor, but I still hold that I enjoyed the game a lot

I remember playing this game on arcade, when I saw this game in amiga catalog (actually a little pirate catalog) i was very happy but at home my happiness came tyo flustration and anger, they didn't ever got 20% of the original.
