Classic ZX Spectrum games on the Amiga
There was a thread just recently about Ultimate games on the Amiga, and that got me to wondering: what classic Speccy games were converted to the Amiga? Note I'm not talking about those late 80s / early 90s games that were ported to every system, but those games which are particularly associated with the Spectrum.
I know that there were official, commercial conversions of Manic Miner, Jet Set Willy, Chuckie Egg and Head Over Heels. I also had a PD conversion of Cookie on a The One coverdisk, and I think there were several PD Jet Set Willy clones too. Any others? |

A truly terrible version of Exolon was ported to the Amiga.
Stormlord also received a conversion, and from what I remember, wasn't actually too bad. |

Never played Exolon, but I definitely enjoyed Cybernoid.

I always felt the Amiga version of Head Over Heels wasn't as good as the Spectrum version. Sure, it had more colour, but the wonderful tunes and sound effects from the Speccy had been replaced by music/effects that just weren't anywhere near as good.

Come on s2325, the title says 'classic ZX Spectrum games', so please refrain from posting random games here okay?
...and it seems Castle Wolfenstein was never released on the Spectrum. |

I think Manic Miner is notable for the dubious achievement of having worse-sounding music than the original Speccy version (which wasn't great in the first place). Other than that it was pretty much a perfect conversion. I thought the updated version was rubbish though.

That CastleOfWolfestein no, but IntoTheEagleNest was a moderated success on speccy, very character colour based, and its ported to Amiga.
Other titles more or less speccy representatives converted: DandareIII Savage JoeBladeI&II Barbarian (Palace) FrostByte (incredible, no?) Deflektor WarInTheMiddleEarth other less classics: H.A.T.E. DarkFusion I remember there were an AMOS AticAtac |
