The Original AGA floppy release has this bug or mastering error. The sounds file is corrupted and wont work right on any Amiga config.

I'm sure this was fixed along time ago though and the installer came packaged with the working sounds file but after checking the slave download, it seems not.

Just tried the SPS image and indeed the file seems broken. The Paradox crack though is fine. How did they fix it? Used the CD32 file? There is nothing mentioned in the intro.

I don't recall where the fixed file came from. Maybe a later floppy release as I don't think the cd32 has the same sounds file. Jotd is most likely to know. The strange thing is I'm sure it was documented in the readme yet i cant find any of the old slave packages among st my archives with the fixed file in.

The bottom of the slave page (https://whdload.de/games/RoadKill.html) has all previous slave releases. I don't see any audio files.

Is this something that should get fixed in the slave archive or RetroPlay's archives?
The slave archive would be ideal since it will work for absolutely everyone, but I have no idea how big the file is, or the legality of including it.

To fix the engine sounds in Retroplay's slave / install Roadkill_v2.2_AGA_1108.lha; just do the following:

... copy the file "sounds.blkpak" from Roadkill (1994)(Acid)(AGA)(Disk 1 of 3)[h PDX].adf --> the installed slave "RoadkillAGA/data" folder.

Maybe there's a rerelease... I compared both cracked & IPF releases, and this file has a big diff between offset $1E400 and $21000. That explains a lot... I was testing with my own data files, which probably come from a crack... not the IPF.

I'm uneasy about including the whole file in the whdload install. I mean I have done this before, but the file is almost okay. I'll create a small fixer then.

This is probably a good way to do it: http://aminet.net/package/util/misc/lpatch. Damn it's PPC... don't want to rebuild that...

nevermind, I wrote my own specific patcher for this game. Was really simple. I sent the install to whdload page so if game is re-installed the problem won't occur; thanks all for finding the issue.

I just hate bugs that I can't reproduce myself. There are a lot of them in whdload mantis. Some happen because of broken hardware or corrupt files... I'm sure the user had the issue, but not being able to reproduce it is super-frustrating. When I can reproduce it, on the other hand, I usually fix it, even if it's hard, as long as it's a serious issue.
