Workbench disks/Kickstart inmages, can we lift the ban on them?

Just a question out to the forum leaders, now that Amiga is truly dead and won't bother us, can we lift the ban on sharing WB/KS images?

If there's any remaining jerk busting our balls (like that german dude, forgot his name), can we beat him up?

Cloanto own the right to distribute Workbench disks and Kickstart ROMs, and they are still selling them as part of Amiga Forever, so the rule still applies.

dont know about you, but I am pretty sure that Fairlight, Paralax, anthrax or Skid Row were NOT part of the original published releases, so would you say they were pirated? .... do you have an Amiga Forever dvd set?

The real irony here is they pirated from the pirated that were pirated.... LMFAO... thats to damn funny...

To be honest though piracey is the wrong word as this implies theft (as in copyright theft), its not theft its infringement. two totally different things indeed.

That is why I hate Cloanto´s hipocresy.
On one hand they fight against any website or individual for pirating kickstart roms or workbench disks, but on the other hand, they profit from selling pirated games together with their licensed software.
And you can read their licenses, and trademark acknowledgements, and you will notice those games are not legally sold.

I will be honest, I do think the Amiga Forever set is a good collection, but for the most part, its just that. if you took the games away -

you would be left with a couple of videos, some Amiga Applications, a butcherd workbench and some encypted ROM's

lets not even mention the WinUAE bit.... that bit just p!sses me off even more.

the way everything is now is wrong... on more levels than I have room in my stomach for this belly ache....

You are absolutely right. Sometimes I think that the only company actually defending kickroms and workbench copyright, which is Cloanto, are not entitled to do that, they only have a license, and no ownership. And by the way, Amiga Inc., that is if they still exist in some parallel universe, dont probably have at this point the ownership either. Hell, they dont even have a company, an office or hire personnel, not to mention a simple website.
It would be really fun to watch someone actually distributing kickroms and workbenches freely and openly, and see who has the legal rights to claim on that situation. I bet that person will only receive threats from Cloanto, but then nothing more than barking very loud without bitting at all.
