I thought that the original coders of the algorithm for GIF files were claiming royalties on it, hence why GIF is dying off?

There was a 25 year patent on it which has recently expired so now it is free. But the damage has been done, hence why PNG has taken off so much since the fiasco.

pulldown menu > ntsc/ pal
most options as checkboxes ie preload etc small thumbnail (possibly not too great on standard spec a1200s) if you just base the project on Mame32 I'm sure it's gonna be great |

Yeah, both Lemonada and GBA/Mage allow PC users to do this, but our main reason for developing this is for real Amiga users |

Ok to make a generic launcher, but for it to be convenient with whdload games you must make at least WHDLoad specific features:
For the WHDLoad game search you could just: - scan all the .info files of a directory tree - sort out the ones with WHDLoad set as default tool (or C:Whdload ...) - sort out the ones with Multiview set as default tool (for README, Manual, etc..) - build a database (relative paths!!!) with this information Since all new installs come with specific names for docs (README, Manual, Solution ...) you could display a contextual menu with this information. You'd just miss game screenshots (not as easy as MAME ) but you could however display the icon image. For settings: The idea would not be to "import" settings but to read them when required from .info files and save them back to .info files when changed. I'd also think of the capability to edit S:WHDLoad.prefs in a nice GUI (would be the match for MAME "default options") I'd also think of an "audit" feature to check if all slaves present in the tooltypes exist. Also a tool to check (whenever possible, i.e. when game slave matches whdload .lha archive) whether the .slave version is outdated by downloading from the whdload site and offering the possibility to update the slave(s) (like the audit, but with the update feature) A "run random game" would be cool, as well as multi-selection to run one game after another. |

Spotted this thread and this got me very interested. Sounds like a great project. Has any more progress been made? I was using the Arcade Game Selector menu yesterday and I find it painfully slow!
