Uridium 2 Aga

Hello all, this is my first post.

I'm looking for the AGA version of Renegade/Graftgold's Uridium 2. I know it exists, because I used to have it on my A1200 years back, but I've been unable to find it anywhere.

A google search has lead me to believe that Fairlight cracked the AGA version. Has anyone got a copy? The ECS version is (quite literally) pale in comparison.

Please, Please, PLEASE...

Hello Heavy Stylus,

Welcome to EAB

According to HOL (Hall of Light) it says AGA/ECS/OCS: http://hol.abime.net/1821

I believe this means that there is only one version but works on all 3 chipsets (as when games have more than one version they are on separate pages... See Brian the Lion for example...

On PlanetEmu there's a FLT crack but it seem to be a review copy:

... Uridium 2 v0.90-1.00 (1993)(Renegade)[cr FLT](Disk 1 of 2)[review copy].adf
... Uridium 2 v0.90-1.00 (1993)(Renegade)[cr FLT](Disk 2 of 2)[review copy].adf

IIRC there was only one version and that autodetected AGA/ECS on bootup, which seems to go along with DamienD

Thanks musashi5150, that was a much simpler explanation

I've tried all the versions on planetemu, and none of them work with the aga chipset (you have to switch to ecs). The only working aga version is the review version, which lacks sfx.

Anyone else having any luck?

Retail Uridium 2 autodetects the chipset.

Which Kickstart are you using in UAE? I just remebered that the game looks at the version of the graphics.library to determine the chipset - try using Kick 3.1 and make sure AGA emulation is enabled.

I have this version (in the zone in 5 minutes):
Uridium 2 vP1.00-D1.00 (1993)(Renegade)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CLS].adf
Uridium 2 vP1.00-D1.00 (1993)(Renegade)(Disk 2 of 2)(Data Disk)[cr CLS].adf

I think is final, I remember the retail copy I used to own said v 1.00 on it's title screen or so, but not 100% sure.

Hope is 100% cracked. I think the retail had a manual copyprotection, but not sure.

Send a message via MSN to dlfrsilver
the AGA version use enhancement thanks to the 680X0 and AGA chipset.

you have more music, sprites displayed on screen and the game is more smooth..

no 256 colors....

@ rsn8887

I've found that version on planet emu, but it just freezes at the raster-bars loading screen using the A1200 config in UAE, so I can't see if it uses the AGA chip or not.

Are you using UAE or hardware? If UAE, what settings?

Thanks for all the help here btw. I've forgotten a lot of my previous amiga knowledge - I'm sure it never used to be this complicated!

To much time with PC's and STEEM...

Uridium 2 was my all-time favourite game on my A1200. I'm desperate to get the bloody thing to work under emulation with the added AGA features!

all I know is that on a real a1200 if you have fastmem it wont load, you have to disable fastmem.

Killagorrilla - Link?

Do I need images of the commercial disks for WHDLoad? I don't have the copy protection sheet either, which may be a problem.

Any links to where I can get the bits and pieces I need would be greatly appreciated. If you've got it, could you upload to the 'Zone' please?

I'm talking about the original release disks ? you ?

maybe its another game I'm thinking of then, but i'm pretty sure it was uridium2

the one with the utterly crap manual protection, I mean what were they thinking, such a good game ruined by the stupid protection, enter a code with a font that you can't even tell what the hell it says , buy the official version and end up having to use a cracked version, because of idiot protection. **** buying official versions, I prefer cracked ones talk about being punished for being honest.

btw I remember reading the making of uridium2 and originally It was going to have you landing and getting out of the ship and playing a Paradroid type sub game.

anyway its an excellent game, its a bit easy to get lives every 10000, but I suppose you need them for the later levels which are not so easy and force you to fly v.slowly to avoid the walls.

pity the cd32 version was canned.

well acording to the manual

F6:- mayhem mode only availiable on AA machines, "activate this for a real party"
Utilises the extra speed therein, allowing more bullets for the player AND the enemy, and allowing faster speeds for the manta

maybe you have to activate that then ?

A CD32 port would have been awesome. I used to have a CD32 too - which I bought soley for the CD32 version of Chaos Engine (the definitive version, imo).

Anyway, a bit off topic. Just to re-iterate:

I used to have the commercial version of Urid2 on my A1200 (with the ridiculous pale-pale-blue on white copy protection sheet).

Now I have neither my A1200 or the game.

I am desperate to get this working on UAE with the AGA features (faster 'mahem' mode, improved/more sprites, etc.). If it means registering WHDLoad, then so be it. So far I can only get the (cracked) versions of the game to work by downgrading the chip to ECS.

If anyone could provide me with links or the files/images I need, I'll be in debt to you forever. I really need this!!!
