A huzzah for DamienD!

Cheers mate, DVD arrived today. I checked it out using w98 under a virtual machine this morning before I setup a windows box, and didn't have any troubles at all.

I installed windows on my loungeroom machine this afternoon and have been having a ball kicking everyones arses in every game we play.

No problem my friend, glad it arrived safely

As said in my PM, please let me know if you have any issues / questions and I'll be most happy to help

I actually sent a copy to krutknut as well. He had a small issue with the desktop shortcut not being copied across. After working out his PCs details etc. the problem was identified and I sent him out an updated SETUP.EXE

The issue was that the relevant shortcut (based on it being run from either a DVD drive or a HDD partition) is supposed to get copied across to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop"... As krustnut has a Swedish install of Windows XP, the Desktop is actually located "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Skrivbord"

BTT: The path for the desktop in a German XP is 'C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Desktop' (copied the shortcut manually), other than that all seems to look and work fine. Great work

Thank you

The copying of the desktop shortcut works like this, of course depending on what options you selected for running the files:

Code:
IF EXIST %Temp%.\DVD.TXT COPY /V /Y "%CDROMS%:\SNES\DESKTOP\SNES9X\%CDROMS%-SNES Emulator.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\SNES Emulator.lnk" > NUL
IF EXIST %Temp%.\C_HDD.TXT COPY /V /Y "%CDROMS%:\SNES\DESKTOP\SNES9X\C-SNES Emulator.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\SNES Emulator.lnk" > NUL
IF EXIST %Temp%.\D_HDD.TXT COPY /V /Y "%CDROMS%:\SNES\DESKTOP\SNES9X\D-SNES Emulator.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\SNES Emulator.lnk" > NUL
IF EXIST %Temp%.\E_HDD.TXT COPY /V /Y "%CDROMS%:\SNES\DESKTOP\SNES9X\E-SNES Emulator.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\SNES Emulator.lnk" > NUL
IF EXIST %Temp%.\F_HDD.TXT COPY /V /Y "%CDROMS%:\SNES\DESKTOP\SNES9X\F-SNES Emulator.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\SNES Emulator.lnk" > NUL
The %CDROMS% variable is determined by "calling" the file CD_DVD.CMD from the main SETUP.CMD...

As you can see above the appropriate C-SNES Emulator.lnk --> Y-SNES Emulator.lnk gets copied to the Desktop but renamed to SNES Emulator.lnk...

I'll send you an updated SETUP.EXE anyway as it will only take me 2 minutes to update the SETUP.CMD file and then convert it to an .EXE file... Just PM me your e-mail address

I made a batch file (based on the CD_DVD.cmd one) that gets the desktop path from the registry, so it should work on all language versions.

Code:
@ECHO OFF
SETLOCAL
SET DESKTOPPATH=
SET Temp1=%Temp%.\%~n0%Random%1.reg
SET Temp2=%Temp%.\%~n0%Random%2.reg
START /WAIT REGEDIT /E %Temp1% "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders"
TYPE %Temp1% > %Temp2%
TYPE %Temp2% | FIND "Common Desktop" > %Temp1%
FOR /F "tokens=2 delims==" %%A IN (%Temp1%) DO CALL :ParseW2K %%A
SET DESKTOPPATH > NUL
DEL %Temp1%
DEL %Temp2%
ENDLOCAL & SET DESKTOPPATH=%DESKTOPPATH%
GOTO:EOF

:ParseW2K
IF DEFINED DESKTOPPATH (SET DESKTOPPATH=%DESKTOPPATH%) ELSE (SET DESKTOPPATH=%~f1)
GOTO:EOF
Then you can use i.e.
Code:
"%DESKTOPPATH%\SNES Emulator.lnk"
instead of
Code:
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\SNES Emulator.lnk"
in your setup.cmd file.

Guess I should really post this somewhere in the thread so that it saves people time in trying to see what it's all about / additions etc...

Some of it's in the README but some isn't:

Basically the DVD has an autorun and will launch once it's inserted into your DVD drive. Here you have 2 main options; Run Setup or Read-Me.

Things to note:
... Windows 2000 / Windows XP
... If you have more than one CD / DVD drive in your PC / laptop, make sure that your DVD is the first available otherwise the SETUP will not work correctly. Virtual drives will be ignored.

Once clicking Run Setup the SETUP.EXE program will run, you need to go through the Main Menu options 1, 2 and 3:

(1) Run the "File Location + Desktop Shortcut - Setup" menu:
Here you can select to run the DVD from the local HDD or DVD and a shortcut will be copied to your Desktop afterwards. You will then be taken back to the Main Menu and should now press 2.

(2) Run the "Emulator - Selection" menu:
Here you can select which one of the 2 emulators you'd like to use i.e. Snex9x or ZSnes, then options for display and controllers. Afterwards you will be taken back to the Main Menu.

Note: if you are running everything from the DVD:
... Snes9x: all options are configurable as Snesx9 uses the registry.
... ZSnes: only default display and keyboard controls will be set due ZSnes using file based configurations.

Note: if you are running everything from the HDD:
... Snes9x: all options are configurable.
... Zsnes: all options are configurable.

Once you been through the above 2 options and are happy just select (3) Exit, as all desired settings have been applied.

If you ever want to change your selected options just run Setup again and go through whichever part you want to change. You can also select (4) Exit, removing all applied settings to remove all previous options.

The file that I uploaded to FileFactory was only the directories / structure / front-end / emulators... No ROMS were included but there are instructions in the README to tell you how to add you own. There are screenshots for the complete collection already included in the package...
