Hero Quest copy protection

Does anyone have a real scan of the manual? I know there are various text-only versions readily available, but those don't help to get around the copy protection.

I recommend WHDLoad installation of this game. The installed game runs without copy-protection.

Alternately, programs like lockpick may know the game and could create an unprotected backup copy.

Thanks, but WHDLoad won't help running it on a basic A500

Could you download a cracked copy and play that instead?

Oh, sure, I should have worded my initial request better. I can play the game by using a cracked version, however, if one owns an original, I think it's worth taking every chance to try and get it 'functional' - even if it's only a slim one (because, I guess if someone had scanned that manual already, it would be available already...). So, thanks for that suggestion, too, but I'm really looking for the 'sugar on top'

After wasting about half an hour trawling the web for a copy of the manual and only getting this close (and landing here more than once ) I decided to give up and try a different approach. Since your major issue was passing the manual protection check based on the symbols that flash up before the game starts it seemed logical that those symbols would all be in memory.

Of course no programmer would be dumb enough to store the graphics sequentially in the same order that they appear in the manual right?

You're absolutely correct, nobody would do something like that

Guys - you are all simply amazing! Thanks a lot!

OddbOd: Ingenious solution

dlfrsilver: Is it ok if I convert this scan to PDF and post it for download on my site (with full credit to you, of course)?

Cheers - in case anyone else is looking for it after it's been automatically removed from the zone, you can find the scan here: http://www.goodolddays.net/0_0_0_0_0...2_show_1__0_0/
