Swear words

Is it new that swear words get censored? Why? Everybody knows what's meant when seeing the *****s.

I think the majority of the members here are grown up and don't have problem reading such words...

Using * is just so... american (no offence) -> f*ck, sh*t...

Yeah, you're right - swear words are censored automatically...

Can you turn this off RCK?

This function was activated for
1- testing it
2- prevent excess language during last Marz war.

Now that everybody seems to be calm down, I'll turn it off again.

Hey, is this a user-configurable toggle option? If not, it might be a good idea. That way, if anyone has kids around (or anyone else who may be offended by vulgarity), they can switch this on and off at their leisure.

Let's say it in another way:

The people that make excessive use of such words are immature but the mature people don't have problems reading them.

RCK said : 2- prevent excess language during last Marz war.

Well how'd that prevent anything when you know what's supposed to be there anyway?

Why not get it to replace the words to something random like Fruitcake. Exhaust pipe. Jump. Plane. Fall.

So people would get a laugh from it instead like :

"You stupid exhaust pipe. Go jump yourself."?

Probably a stupid idea. Sorry.

Like the built in 'HalfLife' chat, does something similar.

Try it sometime, it can be fun

Yeah, hehe...we used to have similar modules for BBS programs back in the early 90's. Another was the age old text hacks that would modify the messages to be in jive talk or Southern slang or any of a number of word hacks. Merely an amusing diversion, but dem was da good ol' daze...

People deciding on what is vulgar or not is patronising at least and censorship at worst. Some people will just swear for the sake of it, while other people will do it sparingly.

It shouldn't be a function, the moderators should be doing their job properly.

(sigh) call it what you want, dude, but I think everybody here knows what most of society considers to be cuss words. Every variable could exist....with or without filtering.

What job should the moderators be doing, in regards to swear words?

"cuss words" ha ha, -

A moderator should be able to stop trouble before it gets out of hand.

And please don't use that patronising (sigh) comment again. I find it offensive and inflammatory.

You need to get off your high-horse, little man.

STOP!

I'd rather listen to the dying arse song of a fatally flatulent cow which has just been launched into orbit by it's own anal expulsion, than have to listen to another argument from both of you!

No arguement here...I have no response for tired, predictable, clichéd, kiddie trolling.

Hmmm, I think it's becoming a 'first to take the moral high-ground wins' competition.

It's all good :P
