Installing MUI-Builder
Hi,
Been playing around with OS3.9/Amikit. It's a nice set up but I'm not really sure on how I go about installing MUI-Builder on it (I only dabbled with Workbench 1.3 every now and again back in the day). Can someone do me a huge favour and tell me step by step how to go about it (treat me as a noob, it's for the best!)? I have a project I think MUI-Builder will be very handy for. The package I need to install can be found here: http://aminet.net/dev/mui/MUIBuilder22.lha Thanks in advance. |

Open the Install drawer and double click your preferred language.
You probably need MUI first, if it's not already installed. I would like to suggest that you create your own clean Workbench setup before you start to develop software. AmiKit is anything but clean. |

Thanks for your assistance thomas, you're proving to be quite the helpful guy! : )
I have the more standard OS3.9 install that you helped me prepare, so I can try installing MUI and MUI-Builder on that. Can you list the steps that I will need to take to get MUI from it's archived form to fully installed (hopefully with a shortcut on the Desktop)? I want to try and build a MUI/Zune interface for Netsurf. May be well out of my league, but I'm willing to give it a go. : ) |

Run WinUAE, load your OS3.9 config, go to Harddrives, enable "Add PC drives at startup" and click on Start. When it's ready, run UnArc. Click on the button next to "Archive:" and find mui38usr.lha on your harddrive. If you downloaded it to C:\Users\YourName\Downloads, you will find it in WinHD_C:Users/YourName/Downloads.
Then click on the button next to "Destination:". Click on Volumes and select Ram Disk. Click on Start. When it's finished, close UnArc and open Ram Disk and MUI. Check that there is a little smiley icon in the lower right edge of the window. Although this is the least needed file, installation will fail if it is missing. Double-click the Install-MUI icon and follow the on-screen instructions. Do not choose Novice mode ! |

Thank you again thomas, you're my AmigaOS guru!
I can't see the 'little smiley icon', please see screenshot attached to this post. Can't see an 'Install-MUI' icon either. Why is the 'little smiley icon' important? |

Thanks to your help thomas I have been able to get MUI (usr and dev) and MUI-Builder onto my AmigaOS image. Thank you so much dude, you are a credit to this fine forum.
Now I can play around with making a Netsurf UI. |
