amiga/pc networking for music

is it possible to connect an amiga 500 or 600 to a p.c so i can run octamed from my p.c?
i know there are amiga emulators but i'd like to use the paula soundchip.
ideally i'd like to run octamed, possibly with more than 4 available channels, just using the p.c for the power.
im no computer genius!!!!
cheers

I don't know of any utility that lets you connect an Amiga up to a PC and use it as a sound card. What would be even cooler is just use the Amiga itself. I saw a band the other night that had an atari 2600 as one of it's instruments, anyone can hook up a PC...

Impossible, afaik. Only way (I'm aware of) to connect the amiga with pc is through midi and that would not benefit in any way from the power of the pc. You could try the Med Soundstudio on the pc. Why exactly do you want to use paula? Compared to todays audio equipment paula (arguably) offer inferior audio quality (and does not have as much "character" as some of the old SID hardware has).

Write your mods on PC and transfer them to the miggy for the 'authentic' sound? (which isn't as bad as some make out IMO)

What you're asking for is difficult... the two Amiga's you have listed are not really powerful for complex networking. If you had an A1200 with accelerator or an A3000/A4000 then you could have used VNC to access the Amiga remotely using the PC.

1) Experiment with WinUAE until you get the Paula output just right (tweak the filters etc.)

2) Buy a USB card reader, CF card and a PCMCIA->CF adapter for your A600. It will allow you to quickly and easily transfer music files over to the Amiga from the PC.
