Installing CF-Flash on A600 - Using UAE

So I've ordered a 44pin IDE CF Flash reader, and a 4 gig card known to work with the Amiga.

I will install this in my A600HD inplace of its original 20meg hard disk.

While I'm waiting for it to arrive, I am making a 3.5 gig hard-disk file in WinUAE and setting the system up, with the goal of copying this onto the CFlash card when it arrives and using it in the A600.

Now my A600 has Kickstart 37.300, will I be able to use a 3.5 gig or 4 gig card on this? I am installing Workbench 2.1 on the partition.

I have IDEFIX 97 if that helps, or will I need the 37.350 ROM?

Anything else I should be aware of?

I'm thinking, make the disk in WinUAE then just copy it onto the CFLash card and drop it into the Amiga and I'll have a working system?

It should be fine. Search the forum for any help you need, this has been discussed numerous times now.

I thought 300 wouldnt see larger HDD's.

I've got 512Mb CF card on 37.300 and it works fine. Haven't tried larger cards.

I use to run mine A600 with 37.300, it recognized even a 6.5Gb HD I thrown in once.

But the mileage may vary. The 37.300 is the version who theoretically just accept under 40Mb HD sizes.
