@slayer

I am going to put the cybvppc in with the buster 11 motherboard when the sound on that gets fixed. Also, it seems the picasso iv is not without its problems whereas the cybvppc itself is fine. I have opened a thread on that since this thread seems to have solved the hardware system as a package issues.

Just another update... if you want to get the picasso iv and cybervision ppc working together properly on a buster 9 a4000 motherboard, you need to set the jumper on the Picasso to force it to use Zorro II mode. This solved the issues, and now it runs just like on the buster 11 motherboard, although a fair bit slower for screen updates, and high resolution videos.

Found idea for solution courtesy of this: http://www.amiga-news.de/forum/threa...7045&BoardID=1

Not true necessarily. I ran PicassoIV+CV64/3D+CVPPC in my A4000/Buster9 without any problems.

Well, i bet our hardware is not exactly the same

I have a Rev 1 daughter board, rev 1.0 CVPPC (no 2nd connector for A3000), CSPPC 060 + 233 Mhz Phase 5 version. Rev 1.2N Picasso IV (faster double speed memory chips). Power supply 145W standard A4000D.

Remember, mine sometimes worked, so maybe it is not far off from working. Maybe your power supply is more stable. Maybe your memory chips on motherboard are faster/slower than my flat 70ns. Too many maybes - even with a bare system, there are so many variables.

Also, my right channel sound seems to be ever so slightly softer than the left, so the capacitors on the main board must be going.

Additional Note: I found on an amiga.org thread that someone had to also use the zorro ii mode with a bare buster 11 motherboard - go figure looks like luck of the draw. Unless! It was a buster 9 socketed motherboard upgraded to buster11....But then again it might only be the faster rev1.2N picasso board....

So it is clear that you either have something else in your machines, which adds a new IDE driver, for example a flash ROM card (eFlash, Romulus, Algor, Kickflash). Or you didn't upgrade the V40 FastFileSystem to V45 and thus are running a very dangerous setup which looks like using the entire disk but rather uses only the first 4gig for all partitions.

Please get Check4GB from Aminet and post its log here, so we can participate in your great setup.
It's been a long time but here ya go Thomas

Name Volume Size Device Unit Version DosType Version Big Check
DH9 9 27G scsi 1 119.16 DOS3 45.13 yes ok
DH8 8 27G scsi 1 119.16 DOS3 45.13 yes ok
DH7 7 27G scsi 1 119.16 DOS3 45.13 yes ok
DH6 6 27G scsi 1 119.16 DOS3 45.13 yes ok
DH0 WORK 1291M scsi 0 119.16 DOS3 45.13 yes ok
DH2 2 48G scsi 0 119.16 DOS3 45.13 yes ok
DH1 1 8193M scsi 0 119.16 DOS3 45.13 yes ok
DF0 880K trackdisk 0 40.1 DOS0 45.13 no ok
DF1 880K trackdisk 1 40.1 DOS0 45.13 no ok

and yes DH0 is little more than a gig but it is positioned at the end of the harddrive not the beginning...

anyway, enjoy

This proves nothing. It only shows that you run IDEfix97, probably by LoadIDE. This lets you boot from any partition, but only after LoadIDE has been run from another partition before.

Please switch the computer off, hold down both mouse buttons and switch in on again. In the boot menu choose "boot without startup-sequence". Now enter CD to see on which partition we are and version scsi.device to see if it's the original Kickstart or some flash memory. Then run Check4GB from the command prompt and post the list again.
