Have you sent a save game with the protection check to Psygore? Or maybe there are existing save states somewhere?

There was actually crack for password protection released in the scene. I remember it as it was my 1st "official" scene release shortly after joining Fusion. I had it ready, sent it to Phil Douglas, he improved it more and we released a fix together with my crude hd-installer for cracked version. We didn't remove the password check completely, as the code comparing the answer was nowhere near the question code, but instead changed the code so the right answer displayed some silly message. In any case if you find the patch somewhere maybe it can be used to make a patch for your loader thingy.

Has anyone been able to play this game from floppy? I've tried the one on Magix FTP as well as two sps versions and they all crash when I enter the gates at city of Larvin (NW part of map at start of game). German version does not crash here.
Also crashes using native HD installer but does NOT crash using WHDload. I'd rather not resort to the 3-disk crack and WHDload is out too because I want to use savestates to save. Just using a vanilla A500 1.3 setup, messed with settings a bit, all to no avail.

English original version is buggy or damaged (2 different bytes), if I remember info from Psygore. WHDload slave fix this problem.

The best way is ask Philippe directly or check his source slave, if is available.
Better is check a few more english originals first, it can be disk error for only one game copy or disk mastering bug (for all copies).

Yep, the original english version is bugged (which currently available in sps form).
The last bit of some tracks are wrong, so when it depacks data, they are corrupted.
There is a checksum track, but it doesn't verify the last mfm word. The rawdic imager fixes this last bit, so the disk image are correct. Furthermore, the whd install checks if the depacked data are ok.
Data are good on the original german version or the cracked english version (Phil Douglas).

Never owned or played Fate : Gates of Dawn before... Noticed v1.6 update of Gamebase had the typed manual in it, and... here I am ! You sure were lucky to get a hold at the English version of this, dlfrsilver.

Edit : I converted the documents (manual & spell book) to PDF, I am uploading the whole thing on my web site, hope you don't mind. Don't hesitate to tell me if the documents are unreadable on smaller monitors (6 booklet scans per page)

ah... those late night Amiga discoveries...Only abime (c) Networks can make it possible !

By the way, have you noticed that FGOD, is also the acronym of your favorite expression : Oh ! My f*cking God ?

Hi,

Someone still plays this game ?

I try the WHDLoad version on the latest Winuae and I can't move the mouse pointer. Is there something specific to do ?
(my mouse works fine on WB and amigaDOS, thx)

The readme says V1.4-e Aug 3 1991.

That same file's date-stamp is 08-mar-91 15:02:29
The installers datestamp is 08-mar-91 14:29:57

I have it installed but it won't run (orange guru), probably not enough chipram or requires KS1.3.
