Thumbs up Best place to buy a Gotek suitable for A2000?

Hello

I've moved up a level on the Amiga league and purchased an A2000!

Where is the best place (price/reliability) to buy a Gotek that will work with it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Simon

.... and also how hard is it to install? I just watch a video on it on youtube and am now pooping myself about having to do it - not sure its in my capabilities.

I brought a load of disks for it though and barely any of them work. Is it true many disks have now packed in and do not work?

I bought two Goteks from e-bay - the cheapest from eBay at the time for 16.10 US$ each. Now I see them for 14.96$. Both of them worked flawlessly - one on my Korg PA50 synth and one on the Amiga 1000.

Get the Gotek directly from China (via Ebay, price is under 20USD, shipped) and flash the firmware yourself.
No serial adapter needed: [ Show youtube player ]

Here's a link:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-DC-SFR1M...K/222446769782

And then one of these if you want to put it in one of the 51/4" bays:

Then you'll probably want to replace the firmware with the free FlashFloppy as the standard firmware is useless with Amiga:

Its a feature of the Gotek boot-loader, has nothing to do with the Firmware.
So yes, FlashFloppy flashing will work with this method.

As for HxC, it has its own custom flasher which only supports serial.

Get any cheap ass "floppy emulator" off eBay. All Goteks work on Amiga.
Never pay more than $20 (plus shipping) for one.
