The most funny thing about this, is that I never really liked the game when was released and I found it very hard...

capehorn, level 9, that is the most difficult game boss (at least for me), using axes you will eliminate it a little easier .

I never really liked this game until about two weeks ago. Superb scores guys!, this is gonna be fun to watch. I admite I had another go yesterday just to test the water, but came out with a worse score than ever. Reaching the 200k mark to win the round is too wild for me.
Great to see some folks using actual screenshots from the end of the game rather than the animation.

I cut this pretty fine, I needed every single coin I had to buy the third axe for the endboss and need every single healthpoint I had for the final battle. But I got my first complete.

We've got just two days left now so I will remind everyone that the winner of this round gets to choose what year we pick games from in the next round - Round 8 is a special round so we will play two games and we will only be allowed to vote for games originally released in the year chosen by the winner (according to the HOL and Lemon databases). So re-releases don't count and if for instance an ECS version of a game was released in '93 and AGA in '94, it would count as a 1993 game.

You can pick any year between 1987 and 1995, but you can't as we've already had 1991, '94 and '95. Just fire me a PM with the year you would like to choose. But we have got our little break first as it is the halfway point of the season.

I would have made it to level 7, but after defeating the boss in level 6 I jumped off the ledge to the shop ("shoppe") the timer hit 0 and despite being off-screen the game decided I had failed

I didn't have enough life left (only 4 blocks) to beat the boss, so that was it. I doubt I will play this again (it's far too annoying, with bad level and game design in my opinion).

Congrats to the EAB members in the top 5. The ranking looks funky right now (5 EAB members, 6 Lemoners, 5 EAB members, 2 Lemoners...)

You're on level one so your score will be recorded normally

Round now over and the first half of the season comes to a close.

Well done to who for winning - now we are just waiting for a choice of year for the next round's voting from him.

Will update the standings in a few minutes but it's looking like a three-way battle for this year's title and the battle of the boards is now tied at four wins apiece. The second half of the season has been set up very nicely indeed.

Yeah, it looks to be set up nicely for a threeway fight for the top spot between premmisseth, lifeschool and who, whilst myself, capehorn and linesmachine fight it out for 4th place

(Yeah, I know I'm 20 points behind them, but it'll be fun trying to catch up to them!)

I think this season is going right to the wire. You never know - with the right run of games you could certainly close that gap on fourth and fifth. There's still nine games to play so lots of points to play for.

Who has now chosen the year we will be choosing games from in the next round and that year is (drum roll)... 1987. So you may need to get your thinking caps on for this one. Voting doesn't start until next Sunday so plenty of time for (ahem) 'research'...

Wow 1987 - I didnt know games went back that far.

Yes, it's been a terrific battle so far this year and I'm really enjoying it. Its fun to see #1 swapping places during the season and no runaway winners.

Graham - im sure I just read it someplace but is it one or two 1987 games? If I remember right, last year I voted for Ruff n tumble and zeewolf, which was amazing, and so I'm almost sure its two games.

Yes it is two games. Oh and I hate to break it to you but Ruff 'n' Tumble and Zeewolf was the year before last I think we had Dynablaster and R-Type 2 last year, off the top of my head.

Graham, and Arcadia 87 game but OCS 88, could count as 87 or should be 88?

I did a search on HOL and couldn't find any Aracadia games released in '87 that were released on OCS in '88, did I just miss them?

AAARGH! http://hol.abime.net/hol_search.php?find=aaa&x=0&y=0

(think it could be a great game for the competition if is a valid entry (as 87 was not really a paradise in amiga games))

As it's listed as 1987 for Arcadia then I don't see the problem in including it. I can't really imagine anybody objecting to that.
