Definitely a lot of junk movies out there!

Hoping the new Dune turns out decently. It has quite the rich source material....well the first few books anyway.

As do I but I have my doubts

I still like the classic from 80's, how can you go wrong with any film that has Patrick Stewart in it

The movie will be great given the director and the insane list of actors.

But I fear it'll still tank at the box office much like Blade Runner 2049.

Tanking at the box office is fine by me. The general public can't handle much thought beyond explosions and lycra suits.
It's the after sales that drives demand for more cerebral movies. The first blade runner tanked and it still warranted a sequel years later.
Saying that, there's been a few decent proper sci fi movies/series out in the past couple years so I guess there's a sizable market for it once again.

It bothers me because Dune is going to be two movies; if the first one tanks, kiss the second one goodbye :/

Two movies for the first book? That might be interesting, though I wonder where they're going to do the cut-off for movie one...

Are they filming separately, or back to back?

If it's the latter then the second will get a release no matter what the first one does.

Here's hoping for B2B

Yeah now I'm not sure. All the usual sites speak of only "the movie".

This article however speaks of the fact that Villeneuve wants to create at least two movies and that it is rumored that these two movies may be based on the first book.

Let's see what happens before we start to worry

That’s simple.

To make money with it.

That would be great too! Would be interesting to see how many kiddies think it's a movie about Halo though....

Indeed, it's hard to make movies about prior art which has inspired other works of science fiction. I'd like Villeneuve to tackle a movie about Neuromancer, but movies such as Blade Runner and the Matrix will trigger people to think it is a complete rip-off.

And in movie form that is sort of true.

Not my favorite Marvel movie, but not worst either.
7.5 / 10
Watched it and had to say that it was a really nice surprise. Pleasant and entertaining. And yes, Fury (Samuel L. Jackson ) has some good and funny lines. Agree with the 7.5 our of 10.

Maybe it's just me, I though Captain Marvel sucked... but as I've said numerous times, I'm sooooo over all these lame comic movies

Captain Marvel cured my Marvel-fatigue. As one cat person to another, I'm disappointed in you. Deeply. I mean I'm shaking my head here.

I'm not strictly a cat person; I'm an animal person

Okay, you got me there. But still. Cats though. Goose is the best Marvel character of them all, the rest was just icing on the cake. It was a bit weird to see SHIELD already being mentioned by name so far in the past, but meh.
